Saying something will never happen is just plain dumb. I don't know if we'll ever get multicore with OS4, but many ppl have made some very interesting statements over time.
1825 "What can be more palpably absurd than the prospect held out of locomotives traveling twice as fast as stagecoaches?"
1865 "Well-informed people know that it is impossible to transmit the human voice over wires as may be done with dots and dashes of Morse code, and that, were it possible to do so, the thing would be of no practical value."
1899 "Everything that can be invented has been invented."
1900 "There is nothing new to be discovered in physics now; All that remains is more and more precise measurement."
1903 "Hence, if it requires, say, a thousand years to fit for easy flight a bird which started with rudimentary wings, or ten thousand for one which started with no wings at all and had to sprout them ab initio, it might be assumed that the flying machine which will really fly might be evolved by the combined and continuous efforts of mathematicians and mechanicians in from one million to ten million years--provided, of course, we can meanwhile eliminate such little drawbacks and embarrassments as the existing relation between weight and strength in inorganic materials."
1909 "That the automobile has practically reached the limit of its development is suggested by the fact that during the past year no improvements of a radical nature have been introduced."
1943 "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers."
1957 "To place a man in a multi-stage rocket and project him into the controlling gravitational field of the moon where the passengers can make scientific observations, perhaps land alive, and then return to earth?all that constitutes a wild dream worthy of Jules Verne. I am bold enough to say that such a man-made voyage will never occur regardless of all future advances."
1981 "640 K ought to be enough for anybody."
2007 "There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share."

That's different. Those people are trying to predict the future. This is a techical problem. There is an idea of how to make it work, but up until know we havn't even seen a proof of concept in what, 3 years? My bet is that, just as with the AROS SillySMP project, they got it sort of working but it also turned out to be impractical.
I'm speculating of course. We all are. So we should go after what we do know and that is a proposition, an explanation from the Friedens how it should work and not a single screen shot or video or anything of a working concept. And that is really everything we got to go with.
So I'm gonna quote Christofer Hitchens here: That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence. _________________ Amiga Forum - Sweden's best Amiga Magazine

They claim they have a kernel that implements SMP. My guess is it breaks compatibility.
And as to the "dumb" comment. " I know you are, but what am I?", er uh let's not get TOO stupid with the responses. We've been having a valid conversation anout the available options, this is not blind speculation. Unless you are foolish enough to believe that the Friedens are going to invent something that hasn't been tried before. |

The amiga is not powerfull enough to run DOOM. It takes the full speed of a 68040 to play the game properly even if you have a chunky pixel mode in hardware. Having to convert to bit planes would kill it even on the fastest amiga hardware, not to mention the effect it would have on the majority of the amiga base.
