| Hi
Is the amiga floppy drive cable the same as one used in a PC? I'm doing tower conversion and will need a longer floppy cable can I use a PC one? _________________ A1200 ACA1232 128MB Indivison MkIICr Elbox empty Power Tower RPi3 Emulating C64 ZX Atari PS BBC Wii with Amiga emulation Vampire v4 SA |

With a PC floppy-drive, the ribbon cable will have a twist. The end of the cable with the twist MUST be connected at the floppy-drive.
The twisted section of ribbon is as follows; 1-9 correct way 10-16 reversed 17-34 correct way

You can use a plain PC cable, but the twisted one is different for the Amiga ! Sorry, I cannot remember which wires need to be twisted, but I did this many years ago and the PC twisted one is incompatible.

A wedge case Amiga has no twist in the floppy cable, so cutting the twisted end off a PC floppy cable (where the twist is between the two floppy connectors) works fine.
If the twist is in the middle of the cable, so that the middle is twisted and the end is straight again, use the end one. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean. |

| 3,95 in AmigaKit should be cheap or test. Gotta tower with ready ones. (Elbox) One modded pc tower was so bad that had to trash it. Offcourse all the stuff inside saved.
Many answers if googled. |

Internal Df0: is standard Shugart interface + cable
Internal Df1: and any external Df1:, Df2:, Df3: are Amiga interface... Last edited by Raffaele on 23-Jun-2016 at 05:30 PM.
