| Given the current lack of database programs for NG Amiga's, I decided to use Superbase Professional 4, which I bought years ago for my classic Amiga. It can import dbase III files. I use MS Access for my databases. It can export to dbase III files. So it works out quite well. I set up SBpro4 on Workbench 2.1. in e-uae. I soon noticed that the cursor keys aren't working in any programs that I tried, such as DOS or CLI. The numeric keypad doesn't work either. This is a pretty serious problem. I tried several USB keyboards and a ps/2 keyboard. I tried several versions of e-uae, including the latest one with jit and RunInUAE. The cursor doesn't work in any of them. I've also tried different versions of Workbench. I have two AmigaNG computers: a SAM 460ex/AmigaOne500 and a micro. I have the same situation on both computers. I booted directly from the AOS4.1 FE CD. Same thing. I assume this problem showed up after some AmigaOS update, but I don't know when. Has anybody seen this before? Any ideas? _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

First idea: look up the work 'paragraph'
Second idea: change the keyboard joystick emulation in the .uaerc file.
From the docs:
joyport0=
Selects the method used to emulate the device attached to the Amiga joystick port 0 (the mouse port).
none - no device is connected to this port. mouse - a mouse will be emulated on this port and input will be supplied from the host's default mouse (the device you use to move the mouse pointer on the host). joy0 - a joystick will be emulated on this port and input will be supplied from the first joystick found on the host. joy1 - a joystick will be emulated on this port and input will be supplied from the second joystick found on the host. kbd1 - a joystick will be emulated using the numeric keypad (8, 2, 4 and 6 are directions up, down, left and right, respectively, and 5 is the fire button). kbd2 - a joystick will be emulated using the cursor keys and the Right Ctrl key or Right Alt key for the fire button. kbd3 - a joystick will be emulated using the keys T, B, F and H for up, down, left and right, respectively, and the Left Alt key for the fire button.
joyport1=
Selects the method used to emulate the device attached to the Amiga joystick port 1 (the joystick port). Supported values for are the same as for the joyport0= option.
Or in thinkchip readable format:

Sorry. I usually overwhelm people with a big, dense block of words. I'll try that later. That's probably it. I thought it would be a lot worse. Thanks.

I tried changing the joystick definition and it worked. Easy. I'm working on a e-uae configuration file editor called TrUAE. It's about half done. It uses BOOPSI classes. You can use it to set up the CPU and drives. I haven't got to the joystick definitions yet. The good thing about TrUAE is that it only effects the things you want to change. It leaves the rest of the stuff alone, including comments. The current version is available on OS4Depot. I found out it has a bug which I plan on fixing soon. Creating .hdf hardfiles isn't working.
(Notice new paragraph ) I've been thinking of starting working on it again. I think I'll change the default joystick1 definition to none. I can do that. I know from experience that the way it is now causes people problems. I like to avoid problems when possible. Last edited by thinkchip on 15-Jul-2016 at 03:55 AM. Yes I have TrUAE installed here. Nice icon. And all the options show good promise. Now all you need to do is wrap EUAE-JIT around it. |

One jit coming up. I'm adding jit settings. It turns out the HD problem wasn't so bad. I found the icon somewhere. I should contact the author. Or maybe design a new one. Something to think about. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |
