The limited IDE on the A1200 is faster than 16-bit PCMCIA with speeds between 2-3MB / sec _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS |

It can only boot from devices which have drivers held in ROM. For PCMCIA this is limited to SRAM cards formatted as disks. These show up as the CC0: device, and are limited to 4MB maximum. It's possible to install Workbench in the 4MB, and it will boot far faster than a floppy disk, but slower than from IDE with a "modern" drive attached. _________________ RobTheNerd.com | InstallerGen | SMBMounter | Atoms-X |

If you want the best IDE interface for your A1200 I would recommend the Elbox FastATA 1200 MK IV. It's fast and supports large Hard Drives and Compact Flash's. It has many other features too.

I used to run scan doublers / flicker fixers but they always seemed to get quite warm. With modern LCD TVs having anti flicker circuits built in, I just use an RGB to SCART cable instead. I can run hires laced with no issues, apart from how slow my 030 Amiga refreshes @ 256 colours :). _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |
