Hi all

Just got CDTV for £27 states has issue reading disc. I have not received it yet but am hoping this could just be a bad disc or could it be more serious what should I look for.

@g01df1sh

This might prove useful.

If you're lucky the lens might just need a clean.

@Rob

Cdtv has arrived looks like drive is not spinning up with the top of the cd drive I can see the head move backward and forwards when turning on. When a cd is inserted it does spin the disc up.

Any ideas.

@g01df1sh

Maybe the Caddy is sticky? You can get replacements for very cheap on ebay, they were standard parts on many drives back then. Worth a first shot.

@g01df1sh

The cdtv has a proprietary cd drive, witha proprietary controller. So trying to replace the drive would be very difficult.

You could try cleaning the lens, possibly use a CD cleaning kit or an air can.

Also, Try pushing the caddy downwards while it is inside the drive.
