Hi All,

Here is a list of software I dream about for the Amiga.

Print to PDF
Updated Synergy client
Updated VNC/no machine server
Mixer Docky (live audio controls)
OpenVPN client
Xterm emulation for ssh use
Global URL/bookmark manager with Google integration
NLE video editor
UAE network support

What's software do you dream about?

@tekmage

Better Atari 2600 emulator (port of newer Stella version could be good start)
QEMU
Improved DiskImage device (support for audio tracks)

And probably more I can´t remember right now as I should go to bed.

I dream of a music program with the creativity of DeluxeMusic, but taking advantage of modern graphics.. and it should have unlimited instrument voices instead of just four..
And it would have to run on AmigaOS.

I have a dream.

@tekmage

that's a good list, actually. many of my 'software dreams' are already on your list, but this might be a useful exercise for A-EON and others wondering what the userbase is currently interested in. so here's my wishlist:

  • an updated DVplayer which supports MP4 and MKV containers and has correct aspect ratios when using fullscreen on RadeonHD-capable systems
  • Workbench printer driver to output a PDF file directly
  • Working and performant VNC server
  • 3270 terminal emulator
  • xterm emulation support within console-handler
  • a web browser which is standards compliant, plays HTML5 video smoothly, is performant, and is stable
  • an updated, excel-compatible spreadsheet following current AOS4 UI styleguide
  • an updated, word-compatible word processor following current AOS4 UI styleguide
  • an updated hollywood designer which supports import/export of powerpoint presentations
  • an updated AmiPDF which isn't so darn slow
  • the new doom

Good list there.

I dream of Timberwolf being updated to the latest Firefox build and hardware accelerated.

- Tower57 playing on AmigaOS
- faster PDF viewer (currently painfully slow when document has many pictures)
- word processor or program that converts files to PDF correctly
- proper 3D for my Mediator/ Radeon 9250 A1200 setup

For PDF, try qPDF (nees QT installed), fast and powerful.

Print to PDF

That, at least, should be achievable with some creative scripting. There's a port of Ghostscript for AmigaOS which allows conversion from PostScript to PDF. So all you need is a way of connecting PostScript print output files to Ghostscript. A bit of ARexx should sort that out in a similar fashion to printing over a network.

Photoshop and an updated version of Deluxe Paint. Also Excel would be good as would MS Access.

For a start the Best idea. Using Opera now in a pc. How hard is it to make a viable net program as we need it. I-Browse was the best. Now join all in one.

Also the DeluxePaint. Mighty idea. Learned and in the AmigaFuture CD there were some animations of ours a few mags back.

Real Artwork.

Edit: If Trevor and other Friends read this: My Idea was very long time ago to make a deal with a printer manufacturer, maybe a colourlaser multiuse todays combinet with turboprint or make a new for OS4 and the maker can sell a few hundred machines?

Well. Luckily the Win7 works for now. (Not 10)

For Games Alien Breed The Killing Grounds and Payback for XE would be nice as bought and could do it again. The 060, PIV is just too slow.

Final Writer with print & pc formats. Then we have a killer machine without viruses. Ok Then we need a viruskiller... In my Dreams Too...

This is a Goldilocks situation. Some dreams are too small. Some are too big. Some are just right. Photoshop is too big to dream, but it would sure be nice.

You may be able to use an online PDF print service. Okay I'll make a list.

Scanner and print driver for my HP.
Android Files Transfer now MSD isn't supported on phones.
Audacity for something I can easily load samples and multi tracks in without it crashing.
A fast working browser. Note two words here; fast, working.
Yes fast PDF reader wihout errors, with easy searching and drag selection.
A graphics program that can load images and anims.
An email client with spell checker, files detection and display, and of course HTML.
A more Unix like SDK so things can compile out of the box and if we need a dependency filled it will be a simple compile.
An easier Roadshow than can show simple IP info in GUI. And WiFi support.
AmiUpdate to cache downloads instead of pointlessly downloading what it already has.
Yeah my internet connection to run at fuil speed so I don't need another machine to download Amiga stuff off. Because my AmigaOne runs at a fifth of the speed yet double my internet over local.
Dunno what else.

That's it for now.

A good software for manage Internet Cookies that could be used as standard cookie platform for all our Browsers, so then you will be able to manage and delete cookies at your wish, or even keep any site cookies like in a sandbox, keeping profiling sites unaware reading from cookies where are you surfing to...

I've heard of something called Score but I haven't seen it released yet. Like a lot of AEON ads on the back of AF I see a nice picture about it but no details of what it does or where you can download or see pictures.

I agree existing PDF readers in Amiga AmiPDF and VPDF have to be impoved.

Some kind of VPN would be nice so I can RDP to work using my Amiga.

I've started to update AmiVNC to be much more efficient, and trying to update the protocol as well. But we have to wait until I finished renovating our secondary rental apartment so we can rent it out before going back to anything computer related...

As for Mixer Docky: I use Allkeys to assign hotkeys to the mixer by arexx to operate it by keyboard instead.
