There are almost three months I am still waiting Deadwood and Fab to declare Javascript PPC Safari patch works flawlessly on AmigaOS OWB and on MorphOS OWB in order to pay Tobias Netzel the money I collected with Javascript Patch Bounty on Bountysource site!

https://www.bountysource.com/issues/30646188-odyssey-web-browser-solve-ppc-webkit-javascript-engine-endianess-problems-inherited-from-webkit-x86

Is anyone reading this thread? Deadwood? Fab?

Are you still alive?

Do you managed to integrate Tobias PPC Javascript Patch into your respective versions of OWB?

Does it work?

Tobias Netzel is waiting the bounty money he gained full rights upon.

@TRIPOS

When I raised the bounty I made threads on Amigaworld and on Morph.zone.

Both Deadwood and Fab wrote comments, and Fab promised to release as soon a new OWB version.

In both discussion I made recommendations to respective developers to please test the Javascript patch and report me, so I could made money transfer of bounty to Tobias Netzel.

None answered and Fab seems even disappearing again!

@Raffaele

Well, this isn't a job for anyone, and I believe at least Fab has quite a lot on his table.

@TRIPOS

Fab declared that bugged Javascript engine from X86 was the only thing left that prevented him to release a full working OWB 1.25 version...

lol. just another thread of someone doing nothing short collecting money (or throwing random ideas around), demanding things of people who did or do things, most of cases for no money so far just because they might happern to be spotted to comment somewhere in the victinity.

btw. neither fab nor deadwood are working on os4 version of odyssey to my knowledge. if there are any patches to test perhaps kas1e can compile them for os4 and/or morphos.

Listen pal, you have understood anything but a fish, of all this thread topic.

Bounty has already collected money, Tobias Netzel made a claim for the prize.

I am a serious person, so when I collected all this money for a precise purpose I want also to keep my oath and give the money to the person who is entitled for it.

The remaining you wrote about inconsistence of Bounty is al fuss and babbling.

But sure I can't give the bounty prize to Tobias Netzel if nobody of Amiga Developers will first confirm the patch works for real.

Infact Fab is working to OWB version.

If Deadwood is not involved with AmigaOS4 OWB development, could please the person who is in charge for it (perhaps Kas1e???) confirm that patch of Tobias Netzel has solved X86 endianess issue of Javascript?

nevertheless it seems that there is a problem with the process of confirmation of the bounty fulfillment. im not sure, if threatening the contributors with paying off the sum without that confirmation is the right thing..

is he? so what sthe problem? now, if the person that claims the bounty cant build odyssey for you to test themselves, and neither can fab, you might try to reach kas1e on amigans and submit patches to him.

What Fab actually wrote was:
"When my free time allows it, i'll update to this branch and merge morphos code."

There was no commitment to any timeline whatsoever.

Given your posts on this website and elsewhere, I wish you the best of luck finding anybody who will do the testing for you...

@Raffaele

A polite PM or email enquiring about any progress and explaining your need to pay the bounty would be the better way to procede with this.

An agressively written public shaming post certainly is not.

@broadblues

I fail to see where Raffaele was agressive. Maybe another case where non-native speech is misinterpreted.

Dunno me either...

But sure it is strange that nor in Amigaland neither in Morphos camp, two valud developers were unable to made use of Tobias Netzel patch embedding ut in their code...

At this point I suspect there is something not good into it.

@Raffaele

Here are the validation criteria taken from your bounty:

https://github.com/deadwood-pl/OdysseyWebBrowser/issues/1

Quote:

Validation:

- The non-JIT JavaScript engine for a selected Big Endian system (AmigaOS 3.x, AROS 68k, MorphOS or AmigaOS 4) works up to same level as non-JIT JavaScript version for x86 processors.
- Execution speed is not part of comparison
- The changes are made in a way allowing easy re-basing with newer versions of WebKit
- Changes need to be integrated to https://github.com/deadwood-pl/OdysseyWebBrowser - and released with license compatible with Odyssey
- A binary of Odyssey for a selected Big Endian system is delivered to general usage

This means it is an expectation towards developer taking up the bounty to deliver a working binary for a selected system. A developer could of course team up prior to taking the bounty with another developer from MorphOS or AmigaOS to deliver this, but this should have been to be aranged *before*, not after taking the bounty.

Eventually it is your sole responsibility to manage the bounty as you see fit, including making the money payout. However having clear validation criteria from start and then expecting others than bounty developer to fullfil them is not fair in my opinion.

@deadwood

Thank you for your kind answer.

t is good to see patch works and you integrated it in your release.

Perhaps from your pwrsonal point of view it is really valid and usable or is it a piece of jink but we should use it as there is only one?

Regarding bounty I know that mine is atypical bounty but someone had to move the water in this little pond of Amiga in order to make fresh air mix with it water and let oxygen penetrate to the bottom...

I see too much babbling and too few action in this community.

P.S.

Once you declared you are on the way to solve all RAM consuming issues that afflict OWB.

I think your effort should be rewarded.

May I start a bounty in your name in order to raise enough money that will cover your tireless programming for the community?

(This time I am asking you BEFORE commit the action.)
