You need a selfmade 1mb kickstart rom with updated scsi.device and filesystem.
Mfilos has a guide online? Last edited by utri007 on 20-Aug-2016 at 01:47 AM.

Another problem with 1mb rom and Blizzard, it that Blizkick doesn't support 1mb roms. So you need to find another wayt to load it fast ram, if you want to speed up things.
I use cpu command with fastram swicth. Solution is far from perfect, but I haven't had any problems.
I have 400gb hard drive and my boot partition is 30gb :D

| You don't need an 1 MB KickROM. If you remove icon.library and workbench.library from the ROM (which is recommend for OS 3.9 anyway), things like scsi V43, updated Shell, layers V45 and other updates fit into a 512 KB ROM. Last edited by _analogkid_ on 22-Aug-2016 at 01:27 AM.

Actually you don't need a new ROM at all. The EIDE software will give you LBA48 support and the file system is stored on the disk anyway.
Because the EIDE software overrides the ROM scsi.device, neither the device nor the file system will be used from ROM.
Regarding file systems, watch out for partition size limits:
PFS: 100 GB SFS: 128 GB FFS: I wouldn't dare to make partitions larger than 10 GB with this.
That said, IMHO you should think again about whether you really want to put such a big drive into an Amiga. The last time Amiga computers were run under conditions with business requirements on stability, the largest hard drives were around 1 GB. So everything done to use more than 4 GB can be considered beta at best. I would really think twice before I store 500 GB of valuable data on such a weak system. My recommendation is to keep the local harddrives small and put the large drives on the network as NAS.

| @thomas & _analogkid_ : You are both righ in theory.
Thomas : It might be really difficult to found a 500gb hard drive wich works at all with scsi.device on rom. With patched / updated scsi.device on rom every hard drive works on the fly. My current 400gb hard drvie wasn't notced all with 3.1 rom's scsi.device.
Usually installing OS to amiga hard drive can be real p*in int as*. Need about 5 diffent IDE drives before found one wich works that much that it is possible to make a tiny boot partition. With bigger drives you migh need to test even more hard drives.
Another problems is that ei easy to end up to situation where partitions are visible only after setpatch. Wich might be huge problem if system partition gets corrupted. Many times file system is not saved to RDB.
I have all possible filesystems on my kickstart, SFS, PFS, FFS, FAT95. I have also cf.device in my kickstart.
_analogkid_ : Recomend is not a correct, most peole just leaves them out because of lack of space.
Without workbench / icon library biggest problem is that "any boot floppy" doesn't work, special boot floppy is needed. There is also a potential problems if "boot without startup-sequence" is used.
@thomas & _analogkid_ : I can install my Amigas with any boot floppy, something like deluxe paint is enough, all I need is text editor to make a mount file for cf.device.

| 500GB on a classic? That's a mega amount of space - Like others mentioned, why go so big? _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |
