I think I found the right balance between faster/fluid exploration and hand mapping, within this episode of Dungeon Master.

We still are into level 9, but Lord Chaos' monsters are getting stronger to defeat and levels more complex to explore.

Enjoy!

And it's with the longest video I've ever published (well, lives apart) that the first serie "Arcade Machine", dedicated to Menace for Amiga, comes to an end.
Yes, not much less than one hour and half of trial and error to cross the last level, reach the final boss and defeat it (And I assure you that my edit cut away another hour or so of boring trials).
The first 30-40 minutes are a bit stiff and repetitive, but I wanted to keep them, not just to show how frustrating can be to beat an 80' Shooter (and yet here I'm using the savestate function of WinUae to have a little help: back in the day you hat do do ALL from the beginning when you died) ... but above all to show how changing approach and mindset can change frustration in fun and failure into learning (Well, reconfiguring the sensibility on the Steam Controller and having a Lunch break helped a lot too).
Not an easy watch and not for all, but I'm sure die hard oldschool shooters lovers will appreciate it.

Enjoy!

@ErikBauer

Not a gameplay video, but highly related: in this tutorial I show how I configured WinUae and Steam to be able to play Menace with a Steam Controller (Yes, it is in Italian)

Enjoy the Video!

As the title of this episode suggests, our Champions, at last, find their way to the end of Level 9, killing the last remaining Scorpion.
Sounds easy, but in fact isn't, as the episode shows: this level is full of dangers and secrets...

Hope you enjoy watching!

"In a Dungeon like the one corrupted by Lord Chaos the most dangerous foes are not only the lethal creatures that live within, neither are the deadly traps that await in it's dark corridors. No.
An equally powerful enemy is the arrogance of the Dungeoneer who, overstimating himself, enters umprepared into a new level"
From the Diary of Theron, Chapter 19

Here it is: Episode 19 of the Dungeon Master Walktrough!

One of the things I love about the Dungeon Crawler genere is the Hunger/Thirst mechanic: it looms on you and makes you keep attention on your resources, pushes you not wasting time and makes you feel joyful like a child at Christmas when instead of a new powerful weapon you find a chest full of food or a fountain sprouting from the wall.
In this respect, Lord Chaos has been very nasty: as you proceed towards the bottom of the dungeon food and water resources became scarcer.

Enjoy
Episode 20 of the Dungeon Master walktrough: Thirst!

Dungeon Master Episode 21 is out... and it's a backtracking: party goes back to level 8 in order to refill skins with water and chests with food.
In doing this they also stop to level 10 and collect the Hardcleave (forgot it) and climb back to level 5 to retrieve one of the Vorpal Blades (Completely forgot that section of the dungeon!)... both weapons will prove to be very useful ;)

As usual, Enjoy!

@ErikBauer

Replenished thanx to the backtracking, our champions manage, with Theron's lead, to descend into Level 11, where they face new, deadly, threats.

Enjoy!

Barbarian Plus is out and it is as gorgeous as you could imagine.
A bit too easy for my tastes, but faithful to the original, with pumped GFX, nice visual effects, animated arenas and hey, completely FREE!

Here's my First Contact with the game on WinUae (Beware, Italian language ahead!)

and here's a link to the download file (.lha containing 6 .adf files. HDD setup is on the sixth floppy)

Enjoy!

Don't know whether I can place this here, but next to the old NAPALM series on youtube done by ravencrest there is a complete fresh one currently arising from TaxOwlbear.

The latter one is also commented by that player!
