Does Linux (Debian) have support for SFS0?

@Niolator

According to this there is support. However it likely also needs to be compiled into the kernel which it should be for our kernels to mount it. Gparted as well as parted is said to work. I don't know if it's compatible to the OS4 versions. But that claims support for FFS, SFS and PFS.

@Hypex

From what I read it's:

"(parted) can detect and remove ASFS/AFFS/APFS, FAT16/32, HFS, JFS, linux-swap, UFS, XFS, and ZFS file systems"

Detect and remove does not mean tha you can use that partition but just recognize them, linux needs a kernel module for read (and maybe write) the filesystem, and I don't know if it's possible for SFS.

EDIT:
here are the sources for and old kernel module for reading and writing SFS under linux but it's for nearly a decade ago and they must be compiled by hand before use (if any)

My Debian (x86-64) Linux kernel supports FFS out of the box (the driver's called "affs"), but the "asfs" driver for SFS is not included.

You can list the filesystems supported by the currently running kernel using this command:

Quote:

ls /lib/modules/$(uname -r)/kernel/fs

To actually use Amiga partitions, you just mount them ("mount -t affs /dev/sdb1 /amiga/dh0"), no need for parted.

As somebody already pointed out, the SFS filesystem for Linux looks like it's no longer maintained. I'd stay clear of that.

OK. It seems to be complicated. I thought of extracting some files I have on it but I guess I can wait until after X5000 i released.

@Hypex & Murasame

Hmm... I'll see what I can do. Is AmigaOS 3.x under WinUAE enough?

For SFS0 I'm not sure if it's compatible to OS4 version. You would need a working OS3.9 type setup with 64-bit drive support. So you can attach it as a giant image or through SCSI emulation directly perhaps by connecting it directly.

I know that when I broke my A1 once I pulled the HD out and plugged it into my A4000 and I couldn't read anything on it. Which would have been a FFS2 and SFS.

I'll see if I can afford a copy of AmigaOS 4 FE for WinUAE. Maybe it'll have to be next month.

If you have the latest 68k SFS from Joerg Strohmayer (maintainer of AmigaOS 4.x SFS) then I think it should be.

Not sure if this one is new enough but you could try it at least:

Usually one would get it from his website but it's been down for a long time now.
