Steven Solie has been hard at work on our DevCon for 2016! Here is his summary of what is being covered this year:

Syllabus

We are aiming to cover the following topics:

1. A detailed tour of AmigaOS 4 with tutorials.

We will be going through the Amiga Future programming articles by Michael Christoph. If you'd like to get a jump on them see the Amiga Future Programming Articles.

2. The anatomy of an Amiga disk device driver.

We will be dissecting the p5020sata.device which is a SATA device driver used in the upcoming AmigaOne X5000. This isn't just any custom made driver. It is melding between Linux libata and the traditional AmigaOS trackdisk device drivers.

3. Hans de Ruiter will be presenting his tutorials on Warp3D Nova.

For anyone that wants to program for Warp3D Nova be sure to obtain/borrow/steal a card for the DevCon. See the Warp3D Nova press release for assistance on choosing a card.

4. Personal Projects.

You are encouraged to bring your own personal projects to the DevCon where we, as a group, may be able to help you out.

5. The DevCon will also be tailored to the group.

If something is not interesting we can skip it and move on to something that is interesting. Class participation and feedback during the DevCon is strongly encouraged.

Remember that you need to register to attend the DevCon! Please see the reservations page to reserve and pay for your seat at the DevCon.

AmiWest 2016 and associated events will be October 6-9, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Express, 2224 Auburn Blvd., Sacramento, CA. Make your plans to attend now. If you've attended before, bring one other person who is new to the show. If this will be your first time, welcome to the show! See our website at amiwest.net for the latest information and watch this blog for breaking news about the show.

@SACC-dude

That would be nice is someone speaking German could help Steven with the German comments on the tutorial code. (Amiga Future)

Hyperion is not among the exhibitors I see. They are getting more and more anonymous.

@Niolator

They seem to be first on the exhibitor list?

I don't know what to expect. If one have too high hopes on AmiWest one might get deeply disappointed. If the expectations indeed are too high it might be over for AmigaNG for good.

If there are no ground breaking press releases regarding AmigaOS 4.1 for X5000 and it's imminent release I am out. No more hoping for me and I will buy a new bike and slalom skis for the money.

@Niolator

As a co-founder of AmiWest and X5000 beta tester, I have just received permission to show MY x5000 at
AmiWest2016!

So I hope you can understand and accept this!

I wish I could be there too. I really would like to see what's going on during the Classic Clinic.

Is AmiWest a disappointment? The show has been going on for a few days now and not a word. Any such event in any other area would have showered us with news by now.

@Niolator

The show doesn't start for another 11 hours...
Devcon teaches coding before the show & no announcements are made during that time.

@Niolator

Dude.... chill!

AmiWest starts on Friday evening 5PM CA.

We start with eating and fixing machines and talking...(and some beer) until we're tired.

Then the announcents start on Sat 10 AM CA, we save some for Sunday for the fun of it!

just take a deep breath

Saturday morning? Sounds a bit early for announcements. Do the important announcements still happen at night?

What's the URL for the livestream? The information on this page seems to be from 2015...

From the few pictures I see here it looks as if the action is going strong.
