@Kronos

If it's no upgrade from standard Amiga1200, it's no point is it?
You just get a old Amiga1200 from ebay.

And if your going to make a upgraded Amiga1200 way not improve on it a bit, bit of research leaning about modern standard, making AutoConfigTM rom, and so on. It should be totally possible to add a few new standards to Amiga.

An A1200 from Ebay will be over 20 years old and you won't know it's history and there is no warranty. Amongst other things, it also won't have the 32-bit I/O subsystem of the A1200 reloaded

@NutsAboutAmiga

It has been upgraded right to the maximum possible while useing the original chips.

Want 8MB chips and other bells&whistles ?

Put something emulating (wether in HW or SW) in that case, but if you want a REAL Amiga running on REAL HW you will just make due with this.

Yes but a 68020 at 14mhz is not enough to take full advantage of this, so...

No, you are wrong.

I think you grossly misunderstood!

The reason to why there was a difference with "Fast Mem", was because the CPU in some circumstances had to wait for Custom Chips before it could access the "Chipmem".

With the extra time slots thanks to the faster memory, the CPU won't be halted anymore!

Fantastic news! New A1200 boards in 2016 and down the line maybe some Vampire 1200 boards. Good times!

Excellent News. I ordered two of the new Kickstarter Amiga 1200 cases. One of them will be reserved for your new motherboard. Long live the Amiga :)

I appreciate the commitment and perseverance to one of the most unique and powerful pieces of technology in computer history. The Amiga truly revolutionized the computer industry.

I totally agree!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/a1200housing/new-amiga-1200-cases-made-from-new-molds/posts/1697532

Dear Backers & Amigans,

After a year of work including delays and issues here we are for your pleasure:

* Molds assembly is done @ 98% (pending Signatures & Texture material)
* A first couple of cases have been manufactured (Cases M1 & M2) (see below)
* When the first round of checks are done some minor amendments may be done to adjust molds toward expected technical specs.
* Next step after minor adjustments (if these are necessary) is to add the "grainy" texture material and the Signatures inside molds body.
* Once this is done we'll run another small serie of test cases to check one more time against expected technical specifications for final cases overall quality.
* When all of the upper points have been done, MASS PRODUCTION BEGINS!
* This update is published today 3d October.
* You can expect mass production to begin in around 7 to 10 days from now.
* When cases production starts, Keycaps Campaign will be launched.

Behold M2!

Remember, M1 & M2 are production cases. Not prototypes.

Please note following important details:
- These photos displays second manufactured case from the molds.
- This case do NOT YET include metal inserts so they're not visible here and this IS normal.
- This case displays a sleek top shell, unlike original top shell that has a grainy texture.
=> Grainy texture IS available on production cases.

So the grainy texture is missing. As well as SIGNATURES in the cases:

On behalf of the team i would to express our immense gratitude to:

[- ALL BACKERS:]

[- Big name Amigans loving the Amiga platform as hard as they can]...

- All Amiga Legends who joined us by adding they're signature to this new Official Amiga 1200 case.
By saying Official we'd also like to extend our tremendous thanks and gratitude to **Bill McEwen (Amiga Inc.)** who supported us and followed us discreetly from the beginning.

In many respects, that applies to everything since Commodore.

Those case are to check the molds are good for making parts that all fit together and with the internal hardware. The molds will/have be/been modified to add final detailing like labels, signatures and texture, before main production begins.

@TRIPOS

So you're saying that the speed of a 68020 at 14 Mhz will be able to fill the chip ram at the maximum bandwith this memory can take?

The DCE/Power Computing A5000? Were any prototype motherboards ever made or was it just a case and some specs on paper?

Im pretty sure I had seen some screenshots of a motherboard in CU Amiga a few times, but dont know if it was a prototype or a mockup.

Then again I could be dreamng, have been known to do that.

@pavlor

Well some of our hardware can hold up pretty well. And had it came out I would have upgraded to an A1400, A1600 and A1800 if such machines were brought out.

But nothing can really replace that original hardware.

@duga

Yes that's the problem. The original chipset is obsolete by even Amiga standards. If I wanted it I'd just go back to the A1200 I have now. If there is a chance to fabricate a new Amiga it should be taken even if that results in a new chipset for a unique new machine.

If you have a chance on love take it...

Those keys need updating. The A1200 case looks nice in the black. But the keys don't match. The colour needs updating. Probably grey like a C16 was with white on top I'd say.

This is great news. I think the inclusion of this product coupled with the various expansion options should inject some life into the Amiga hardware market. Now if someone (maybe Individual Computers) can develop Phase5 like PowerPC accelerator cards for the new hardware, that should help with OS4 adoption for those wanting to get their hands on it.

Kronos is right:

'It is a replacement mobo for the A1200 useing genuine C= chips.'

I you take a look to Jens works, you will see him as an actor in the Retro market.

He has enough knowledge for a FPGA Amiga, that could compete with a Natami but that's now what he want to do.
