Seriously? Chirping was inane in 1990 but now it just seems juvenile.
For some platforms these updates seem monumental.

As I wrote, I´m used to Windows 2000 look and feel. 3D features are of no interest for me. |

Thanks for help.
However, only real way is to shut down theming, which is horrible hack leading to many undesired consequences... |

Yeah! If only Microsoft would be doing as significant upgrades to Windows 10, as Hyperion just did to Amig... Workbench 3.1!1!
(Well, at least these insignificant changes are free for users of previous versions...)
Some people might like the built-in streaming support, but "surprisingly" that's only supported via some unknown service that Microsoft just bought, not via youtube or twitch, you know, services that people actually use. Last edited by Jupp3 on 28-Oct-2016 at 09:41 AM.

| @g01df1sh Windows 10 continues being a heavy stone to PC computers even with 2-3 years, and 4-5 are heavy heavy stone. The best Windows XP and Windows 7.

Works ok on my old Core2 system.
But then again, I'm not "heavy windows user" (mostly using ubuntu & MorphOS), so I guess it's as with any other OS - it's as heavy as all the programs you use at once.
On the other hand, always wondered how can it be so slow to install .deb packages. Now with Win10, I wonder how it can be even slower
And that page failed to mention the most important Windows update since... Win95 or something?
You can now install native port of Bash (and other unix command line tools), finally
(Of course you could have used cygwin etc. before, but that's not the same thing, and now it's officially supported)Last edited by Jupp3 on 28-Oct-2016 at 11:08 AM.

| Thanks for info. Im using win10 with fast hardware so its faaaaast. I like it, windows 8 i didnt :)
One thing i dont like is you cant still change transparency for startbar as you like. For example im used to total transparency (no background) on amidock. Solution was to install 3rd pary app "classic start menu" and both my desktop and laptop looks nice. Even the desktop at work. I still dont get it why they dont implement such thing in windows.

Hello neighbourland.
Gotta new pc and in the same sentence with the pc expert machine builder: Win7.
Fast. But nothing beats AOS+Magellan, in the pc I have to try to find stuff as there is no logic as Amiga has. Maybe the language question mixes it up too as for example two drawers in different languages.
Waiting for the killer OS+WEB still.

I've just found some older themes for Windows 10. My wife has had me make hers look like XP! An improvement, anyway. _________________ Fred Booth ======================================== A500, A600, A1200 c/w Mediator and 030 AmigaOne and OS4.1 Mac LCII, G4 Powermac running OSX + Amigakit and MorphOS 3.0 Dell Mini 10 Netbook running IcAros and AmigaForever+Amikit+AmigaSys 2006 Macb |

| I used to love 2000, then xp. However, now that i have been using 10 for a while, I don't want to go back. much prefer it now and it does feel...snappier to me. so does the latest Ubuntu. M$ have made a nice OS. Pitty about all the spyware, still, apple are just as bad Last edited by SHADES on 30-Oct-2016 at 10:32 AM.

When Amiga owners complain about Windows, it always sounds like sour grapes. I know Windows is huge and bloated, but with terabytes of disk space and gigabytes of RAM, why not. When somebody using little, old Amiga OS says, "Is this the best they can come up with?" I just have to laugh. Amiga OS is way behind in features. Anyway Windows itself is just the canvas. It's what you can paint with Windows software that is important. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

Well, Windows 10 requires: Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS 20 GB for 64-bit OS Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver Display: 800x600
I really wouldn't call these requirements that high...
(Of course, as usual, usage might be rather painful on minimum requirements, especially considering it's the requirements of the OS, thus mostly excluding any heavier programs) |

| Keeping it simple is hard maybe.
Just spend two days going to the pc booting on/off as it got not wanted ware. Adverts after another and Credit card details stolen.
2-days spent just for nothing.
Then I thought that paying the bills with the Amiga would be more secure and just click it off and forget about it and enjoy the life without these pc problems.
