Thanks for all who answered my request about Dimms in another thread...

Let's go further in the list...

What DVD-drives (SATA or USB) has proven to be fully compatible with X5000 and OS 4.1 FE (and with burning programs)? And preferably of high quality and silent, too...

Regards,

Gregor

Regarding SATA, they all shoud be compatible. For USB, I don't know.

Has anyone, by now, tested whether a USB DVD drive works and also boots normally with X5000...? It would free a motherboard SATA connector for better use.

Gregor

@Gregor

Or if you have a free PCI slot you could add a SATA card for 2 or 4 more ports.

You cannot boot via ANY disk controller in a PCI slot, as Tony has already told... At least until the KickStart is addded to the boot SD. And the idea of freeing a MB SATA would of course be to use that for some other bootable disk.

So, back to my original question...?

Gregor
