An interesting review and it is great to see game support for Prisma.

The customer purchased the Zorro Big Box edition of Prisma - a separate A1200 desktop version will be coming soon which is insulated for use within an A1200 case and includes a clockport cable. This was announced when we made the big box version available for sale.

@amigakit

Add a third bundle for the A1200T to the list so everyone gets the exact package they need out of the box.

@amigakit

ah good to know & left a note on his YouTube channel with this info.

ALSO, PLEASE can you confirm if i can attach my rapidroad usb to this prisma card via it's onbaord clockport and have it working ok in my a4000 ??? I've had zero luck getting my rr working with my x-surf100 so i'm hoping this card will work with my rr

Has there been any answer to this? It is a unique selling point of the Prisma so I'm surprised AmigaKit haven't clarified the situation

sadly no and I've posted on almost every forum where Amigakit is active and yet the simple question gets ignored while other questions get addressed on the thread

@klx300r

Can we assume that the Prisma's clock battery port is not currently compatible with the Rapid Road then? I know it was a massive undertaking to get the card supported in software in its basic configuration but as customers we need to know if other cards are compatible.

It's Amigakit that should feel the incentive to clear this up. They have a warehouse full of these things and there is confusion over the ability to mix CDDA CD music with the card, the quality of the Paula pass through and what cards are compatible with the clock port when used with the Zorro enabled big box Amigas. Each issue that is not clarified or addressed will either lose them sales or lead to an angry customer when they buy one under false assumptions of what it is capable of!

Come on AmigaKit please could you answer the following ...

Questions to clear up before Christmas

1) Will there be a solution for CDDA audio mixing on the Prisma?

2) is there a slight degradation of the Paula audio when it's passed through the card?

3) Is it compatible with the Rapid Road USB card with use of the on-board clock port for use with Zorro capable Big Box Amigas?

@BigD @klx300r

1) We do not know yet because software development is ongoing. We will of course be announcing future software updates for this card which are in development right now.

2) IMHO, I don't have any problems on my system, Paula seems to pass through nicely for my ears.

3) We haven't had the chance to setup a test system yet to test with RR, so at this point I will have to say it does not work untiI we test it otherwise. This is the reason we have not advertised it as specifically tested and working with RR.

@amigakit

Thank you. I hope your able to conduct a Rapid Road USB test soon and that it can be made to work with firmware updates if needed. In the mean time it is still a great product by the 'sounds' of it

@amigakit

Have you tested the Prisma's clockport with another Prisma. There might be cases where someone needs to use 2 Prisma cards at the same time and don't have a spare Z2/3 slot.

@Rob

It doesn't sound like the clockport has been tested on anything other than to connect to the A1200! Why daisy chain two Prismas together when Rapid Roads are readily available in stock at Amikit to test?

I'm not suggesting an alternative test but an additional one.

Some Amiga users DJ in clubs with their systems and the ability to mix the output of 2 Prisma cards could be a handy feature. Looking at the press release again it says that multiple cards can be used, it would be nice to see it demonstrated.

The card can also encode audio provided the driver supports it so a second card could be used to encode the output of the other card mixed with Paula audio or another source. You might even want to record multiple external sources at once.

@amigakit,

Since you are here, do you know what codecs on the Prisma are not in a Repulse sound card? I can't seem to find the info on that card anywhere.

Thanks in advance
Chris

@QuikSanz

The Repulse plays audio generated by applications and has no dedicated hardware for decoding compressed audio formats like mp3. That has to be handled the CPU.

The Prisma doesn't replace the functions of the Repulse and cannot play audio generated by applications. Instead it acts as dedicated hardware for playing back mp3 and many other formats which freeing the CPU for performing other tasks.

If software support is added the Prisma will also be able to apply realtime effects and filters using the hardware and encoding audio from an external source in realtime.
