The very big issue here, IMHO, is not "what to do", since the direction to head to is fairly clear (at least to people who not refuse to look at). The issues are "why" and "who".

Why, because either this becomes a open project, or nobody will invest the necessary money (when a platform is commercially dead, is dead. Nothing will bring it back to life).

Who, because if you don't own something as strong as a brand, or you don't have control over a whole platform, you still fall in the "unofficial curiosity" universe (which us loyal AROS fellows already know very well).

In a nutshell, there should be an Amiga Inc and/or Hyperion starting and leading the direction of the project, with a quite large team of volounteers doing the actual work. Moreover, having someone setting up new Amiga (called Amiga) computers (on whatever architecture you like) dedicated to this OS would create at least a meaning for all this work.

Windows also has a compatibility layer for it's own 32 bit apps, why wouldn't such a thing be possible under AOS4?

Because there is no equivalent of win32 API for AmigaOS.

It would be quite an achievement for many, if in 2017, they could manage to not take a thread so way off topic.

That doesn't mean AmigaOS4 is stuck in 32 bit mode forever. Windows also has a compatibility layer for it's own 32 bit apps, why wouldn't such a thing be possible under AOS4?

The solution you are talking about is UAE.

UAE...

We average users have common sense of considering UAE... But do have developers such a minimum of common sense?
