@pavlor

Why? Is there a release planned before the end of 2016?

Yes, that was their last public proclamation.

I heard something about a release around December 25-26th. I don't know where the person I heard it from got his information from though.

While I dont own a AOS 4 machine myself, my impression is that AEON is pushing the software side as an offset to the relativly slow AOS 4 development pace (dont take this as a negative against the AOS developers, as relativly few people have a massive task to handle).

The Enhancer package is looking really nice, altho I guess people are looking for drivers for their PPC hardware...?

@Overflow

Both OS developers and software developers are working really hard.

I appreciate their effort.

I'm not complaining against them, just ... can't wait

Exactly! How does anyone know who is doing what to develop AmigaOS4.x? At least with the software developers, we know they are working, because we get regular updates from A-Eon, and we see updated programs and utilities that become available for download or purchase.

There is almost zero communication from Hyperion, unless you want to consider Steve Solie laughing nervously and shrugging his shoulders at the Amiwest Shows when asked questions to be a form of communication. I can't really blame Steve Solie though, as I don't think he is getting any pay for managing the development of AmigaOS4, or the code he produces for the project, and Hyperion (Ben Hermans) tells Steve exactly what he can say, and NOT say, at each show.

If Hyperion would at least let the community know what they are working on, and provide a roadmap without any dates for completion of any parts, then the community would know what to expect, but not when to expect it. That would be an improvement over the almost zero amount of information being provided by Hyperion now.

Who will be surprised if Hyperion releases nothing by the end of this year? Not me.

We have the update coming for all supported platform.
We have the enhancer software pack 1.2 released.

@AmigaBlitter

Well Enhancer Software 1.2 made it anyway, and I assume OS 4.1 FE for the X5000 must have, since systems are being sold. I'm still a bit cautious on OS 4.1 FE for the A1222.

OS4.1 FE Update 1 Pre-Release (horrible name) for X5000 includes at least one new feature: NGFS

It seems there was some development...

I don't think it's any secret that the FE Update 1 (when it is released) will bring all platforms up to the same level.

The level of the OS released on the X5000 platform is very recent and marks a snapshot of the beta system. Update 1 will bring all other platforms up to the same level as the X5000.

The NGFileSystem is a beta product and still being developed.

I suppose you mean the Tabor/A1222 ?

It runs OS4, albeit in a limited manner atm. There are some videos around of it booting a system with a high debug level setting. With debug level turned down, it boots quite nicely, thank you.

Yes, indeed! I will go back and correct that for posterity. The situation with Amiga is confusing enough without me adding to it.
