@tlosm

Depends on your taste really. Some people refer a nice rack over a workstation.

@g01df1sh

All we need is a Vampire A1200 reloaded Edition and rightful heir to the Amiga throne will be here.

@WolfpackN64

Openpower foundation achieved great results in the past years. Now the organization counts more than 280 members (they've stopped to count new members).

With the advent of power 9 companies will be authorized to present their own core, just as in the arm ecosystem.

The question is: there will be an affordable, desktop or workstation, low cost power design?

Is qualcomm interested to maintain his power division?

@AmigaBlitter

I don't know, Qualcomm could go both ways. On the one hand, Qualcomm has their own networking chips, so the PowerPC QorIQ line overlaps with their ARM line.
On the other hand, the QorIQ chips are often used for military applications, which is a market dominated by NXP and that's something Qualcomm might be interested in.

Of course, the embedded QorIQ line differs on multiple points from the main POWER line. The latter being especially useful moth mathematics and financial calculations, which is something it completely crushes any x86 chip in.

I don't see any OpenPOWER member making a desktop system just yet, but who knows.

Note: I'm not fully impartial, I'm member of an organization that's member of the OpenPOWER foundation.

Cool!

In that case you can try to look at it, or try to promote a desktop version of power 8, 9.

Maybe it just me, but I not really dreaming about the next Amiga system any more (AmigaONE X6000 with 24 core PPC 5Ghz system!) I dreaming more about the next AmigaOS, and software experience where we have a modern browser that just worked, we have a office software solution and the classic Amiga apps where updated, that now my dream.

Amiga Next Generation of Software needs to happen now!

@AmigaBlitter

I agree. I kept getting an error. But didn't see any posts until it was too late.

@amigang

Let's start learn walking, then run...

We are still at 1 core only stage and we must develop dual-> multicore stage...

Baby steps :)
It's not like other OS are developping critical capabilities at this time, we have time.
