Indeed, as LiveForItMplayer Emotion targets Radeon HD owners and I think PIP (Overlay) could be a little bit more optimized for Sam440/A1 XE and Peg II users.
No doubt Entwickler X is already working on the next version even more optimized (Joerg had been working on a very fast implementation of PIP for Mplayer some years ago).
It'd be great if Emotion could be at least as fast as was DvPlayer under Update 6 with overlay/PIP.
Regarding comparision beteween LiveForItMplayer and Emotion, maybe optimizing a little bit furthe AutoFrameSkip and get rid of sound stuttering may help comparing both of them.
The great advantage of Emotion is its nice interface (even if I'd like to have on "Open" button on the GUi rather than going into the menu to select a file) since LiveForitMplayer has no GUI and requires the use of Mplayer-GUI. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

If I'm not the only one requesting it, I would welcome the option to be able to access the menu when in full-screen mode.
Other than that I really enjoy using emotion player a lot!! Thanks! |

And when you're done and happy with the basic features, please implement at least a minimum Application Library support to make Emotion a modern OS4 app. _________________ The Rear Window blog

How do I have to set up SmTube with Emotion?
Simply reporting in smtube.ini the Emotion address? Any additional set up? |

DivX performs very well but has a bigger file size, while .mp4 often is to slow for us (but often used today) |
Actually you can have a DivX encoded file IN an .mp4, because .mp4 is just a container.
I think people are still confusing .mp4 (a container) with mpeg4 (video codec).
h264 is still the most common codec and happens to be part of mpeg4.

Even today, many people still believe that MP4 is the abbreviation of MPEG4 and they are the same media container which can store more kinds of video codec, audio codec and subtitle. But, in fact, MP4 is a container format while MPEG4 stands for a video encoding algorithm. |

Yikes. That's just about the oldest possible version of MPlayer you could be using. And at least on my X1000 I had to use SDL output, which is (of course) horrendously slow. |
Also could not display properly any horizontal resolution that was not a multiple of 16. Later fixed by Varthall, including your sdl issue, iirc.

To make it a more modern app, compliant with OS4 standards?
Currently, Emotion registers with the Application Library without using any of its functions. It doesn't provide any application description; it doesn't provide an URL ID although EntwicklerX has a website; it doesn't support iconification; it doesn't support any kind of external control via Application Library or ARexx. This is not what I expect of a modern AmigaOS application, let alone one that is sold commercially. That's why I'm saying there is room for improvement in this particular department.
