Hi

Why has all the other sites on Aeon website for X5000 got them apart from Amigakit. Considering the machine is developed in the UK you would think Amigakit would get stock first. I hope X1222 don't suffer from this poor stock supply.

I've seen this question asked in several forums and the closest thing I've seen to an answer is that they are busy shipping X5000 to other retailers for now. Apparently Amigakit is acting as wholesaler/distributor for X5000 and don't want to undercut retailer sales.

But why have they then restricted the area where each retailer is allowed to sell X5000? E.g. Alinea told me that they cannot deliver outside Germany, period. And I suppose it is the same for Acube, Relec and Amedia, as they did not even bother to answer to my requests asking the possibility to deliver aboard (though within Europe).

I think this is unfear toward customers who do not happen to live within the allowed distribution areas, and have to wait until AmigaKit agrees to sell them, if they ever will...

Gregor

Just a speculation
Was the internal market too much influenced by the Brexit? I mean they payed the boards before Brexit, this means that selling them at the promised price is a quite relevant loss. Selling outside may be more convenient while waiting for a stronger pound.

@Gregor

Amedia have offered to sell me a system but I don't want to pay in Euro and would prefer to pay in my home currency of GBP

Aside from the price difference I also don't agree with the ethics and environmental impact having my machine shipped around various points around Europe before it lands on my doorstep. It's bad enough the delivery companies that handle your goods don't always take the most effective routes from trackings I have had in the past 😉

@outrun1978

We will be opening ordering of the AmigaOne X5000 in late Feb/March on our UK web store.

We have been concentrating on supplying stock to resellers from around the world for the last four months, which logistically is a *lot* of work.

The majority of resellers have stock right now because we have Fedex out several large packages last week to them. There are a couple of resellers awaiting stock as they do not keep a buffer of the boards but instead order on a Just-In-Time basis.

Congrats and happy early birthday. Glad to hear UK customers will have Amigakit to order X5000's from soon.

@amigakit

Thanks for the update, much appreciated.

@everybody

Remember, AmigaKit isn't just "UK", it's also "rest of the world".

@g01df1sh

Also, there is no X1222. The 'X' designator is for A-Eon high-end machines.

Like the AmigaOne 500 the Tabor-based machine will be a round number without the X. I expect it will be something like AmigaOne 1200, though it would be more appropriate to name it AmigaOne 600.

This may have been mentioned elsewhere...

Is there a ballpark estimate of the number of X5000 motherboards that were produced in the first run?

Any comparable figures for X1000 or A1222?

Trevor said 500 Cyrus board and 1000 Tabor boards had been produced. For the Nemo he never gave any exact number but did say more than 300 and less than 3000. The general consensus seems to be around 600.

I respect highly your responsible attitude in this matter...! As there is a 'local dealer' in England, it is indeed the most ethical choise for you. For those of us not having one, we also have to order from AmigaKit, even if the route from some other country (with a dealer) would be shorter.

I think it would be better if all dealers would be free to deliver anywhere they wish, and that the price of Cyrus+ would be kept identical in all shops (this is of course difficult to arrange due to the different V.A.T. in European countries). The whole X5000 systems are customized depending on the dealer, thus they have naturally somewhat differing prices.

Regards,

Gregor

Terrific, thanks.

Do we also have estimates for the other PPC systems - accelerators, Sam etc.?

@ne_one

It's estimated that 4008 Blizzard PPC, 2889 Cyberstorm PPC and 19 developer boards were made in total.

Source.

Evert Carton made the following statement in his declaration to the court during the dispute with Amiga Inc.

I estimate that Hyperion shipped more or less 1000 of that Developer Pre-release

Source.

That suggests around 1000 Eyetech AmigaOne boards were sold.

I'm not aware of any figures figures or estimates for the Sam series.

It's not OS4 hardware but I thought that while I was at it I'd add that the first run of Mediator 1200 boards was 1000 pieces.

Source.

@Rob

Appreciate it, thanks!

It would seem then that the majority of PPC-based systems would have been sold prior to the introduction of the X1000, making it difficult to know how many are working / actively being used.

It also appears (if estimates for demand/production are correct), that new PPC hardware (X5000 + A1222) and solutions for 68k acceleration (Vampire) may end up with comparable volumes - or roughly 2000 units total each.

Is there any update to the above? 🤔
