Hello Amigans

I have an Amiga One X-5000 I buyed on between October and February the 20th this year and I want to know some things.

First why my Mayflash Arcade PS2,PS3,PC Arcade stick is not recognized when I run Wings Battlefield?

I have to check out but in MAME 0.106 it happens the same really.I only can play the MAME games with keys.

Why my Amiga One X-5000 becomes strangely unstable when I figure out to see my games with the AmigaInputs joypads Input? I have a Playstatioon 3 USB game controller.It has a red light but all is over when I try to play games.

If any of you have this recognition of the system then tell me about your feelings

The Amiga One X-5000 it rules!!! haha!!!

PD:May I have to download and install the Amiga One X-5000 drivers to rule the earth again? I want to configure and play my Mame roms with the Mayflash joystick or the PS3 USB one.

PD2:On Wings Battlefield it doesn't configure the left input of my Arcade stick.It accepts the joystick but it does not accept the left or right inputs of the joystick

Thanks

@newlight

I don't know if this is X5000-specific. I've generally found AmigaInput to be quite unstable, with the preferences frequently crashing and requiring a reboot before the controllers can be used again, but that's on an A1-XE. If you manage to do the assignments correctly before it crashes, it can be used just fine then, but changing the controller or even unplugging it means you have to go through the whole assignment-crash-reboot-save-reboot sequence again. Just as well I don't play any games on OS4...

@newlight

Was this after running AmigaInput Prefs and attempting to configure it?

@Daedalus

Did you post any crash logs? I haven't seen it crash myself AFAIR. Is it called AmigaInpit when this happens?

One thing I wondered is why we have to calibrate a joypad with AmigaInput where as on other systems you just plug it in and go.

@Hypex

I haven't, no, mainly due to a lack of time, it's a bit of a pain to get logs when the machine hangs, but it's something I keep meaning to do because just about the only thing I wanted to use it for was to play Payback with 4 controllers.

As for calibration, I've found that it's not necessary with a standard Logitech controller, but was somewhat necessary with a Gamecube controller + USB adaptor that worked but only went to about 75% of full deflection, so it probably depend on the controller. On the PC, the same controller is a little short of full deflection too but manual calibration in Dolphin sorted it out.

What does need to be done with every controller though is the button assignments for lowlevel.library emulation - it could at least give a guess at what buttons are what based on a common generic pad layout.

@newlight

I hope someone can save me on this painful issue and begin a new era of gaming with my Amiga One X-5000.

Hope to play some roms soon on MAME,FinalBurn or whatever it takes to realize the gaming room.I have to ask this: What USB joystick-controllers are suitable or good to play MAME or Wings Battlefield?

X-Gaming has the answer to my needs or no?

@newlight

I have an XFX Executioner pad and Playstation DualShock 4 v2 pad. Both seem to work fine on there own but when both are plugged in it can cause crashes and some strange behaviour but I was able to get both working in MACE 2 player and Wing BF 2 player.

If anyone is thinking of getting a PS DS4 pad make sure to get the newer v2 version since the original only uses the USB for charging and is therefore completely useless with Amiga OS since there is no bluetooth.

@Rob

The big problem is what to choose it.

Does anyone know a perfect or good PSX style controller for the Amiga One X-5000?

Thank you

I am in a big hurry

Amazon will most certainly sell one,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-940-000138-F310-Gamepad-Blue/dp/B00CJAF3ME

Game in Spain may sell them too, as i picked up mine in Game here in the UK.

@outrun1978

A question here: do my X5000 can accept a wireless joystick or joypad without cable?

Is the F310 Logitech usable and stable to use on my Amiga One?

@Daedalus

The problem with Amiga Input is that it's confusing to developers, for example when probe for JoyPad's you get list pads, and some of pads are not even connected, you need to check if JoyPad is really connected before doing anything. Then system uses hooks, if you add hooks to gamepad that is not connected but in the list Amiga Input it crashes. So the API is not simple stupid to use, it has lot pit falls, the developer can step into.

I have a wireless Microsoft keyboard and mouse which I have used on both the X5000 and the Sam 460 I own so there is no reason why a wireless version of the Logitech pad will not work

@newlight

As a personal preference i would go for this one which is the Speedlink SL-6556-BK Pro Analog pad which is a good all rounder and is based on the Xbox 360 controller which many would regard as being the best one ever made with probably the Sega Saturn pads being a close second.

http://speedlink.com/?pid=28040

However what i found doing the review of the three perihperals i did for my blog, is that having more than one joystick/joypad can be an advantage, some pads perform better than others depending on the type of games you like to play. The Competition Pro i tested in my review works best with Platform games if you are playing Classic versions. It will be useless if you play Quake on it lol.

I prefer driving games as you can probably guess from my username, I also like shoot-em-ups so for me something is more responsive for these types of games will end up being held in my end for these types of games the Xeox beats the Logitech F-310.

Saying that if you do prefer the PS3 style pad and again that is down to personal preference then go for the Logitech F-310 option as it is of a reasonable quality and certainly will last many hours of gameplay.

I know that kind of doesnt really answer the question but truthfully if there was one definitive pad, trust me we would all be using it and there would be no discussion
