@g01df1sh

I thinking Trevor said they were asking for $20M, the same they quoted Bill P when he had an interest in buying them out. I think they paid $5M and that got them stock of hardware and access to a bigger customer base than exists now. Bill and Fleecy added no valuable IP to the company, the stock of A1200s were sold and their shenanigans only served to devalue the brand. They should feel lucky if someone is willing to pay them half a million dollars. Better to get some money back than none.

I have no comment on any individuals.

If Amiga isn't paying the bills then those who own it have to find another job.

@Rob

do they own anything what would be worth even 500.000?

Even if brand would be owned by a-eon (Hyperion still is involved there too) what would they offer that would motivate people to buy it in 2017. Do not forget the commodore fiasco with rebranded linux pcs asking for lots of money just because of amiga stickers on it. It will not work. You could create some marketing, there would be some news reports, people would look at the offering and compare it with what they already own and then go away. You need both, brand and fitting products. And that would be very risky and expensive.

If it was me I'd start with a nice little Amiga retro console. That's the only type of Amiga product that you could get into mainstream distribution channels as things stand at the moment.

@m0lebrain

Just had a thought, did'nt Individual Computers get the Commodore name, I dont think they done much with it yet, but maybe they are also trying to get the Amiga name, after all they have some interesting future projects....A1200 remade.
just a thought.

That was his comment based on knowledge of when someone last formally asked.

It's a bit surprising that there isn't some level of dialogue.

@Kronos

It ultimately comes down to perceived value from the standpoint of the trademark holder - they could renew and retain the trademark indefinitely and use it as a tax write-off.

Either way, if they decide to transfer the rights, or let it expire, we can only hope that it is secured by someone with good intentions.

I am still surprised however, that the lines of communication have just never been there. Only in the Amiga market is basic communication such an elusive concept.

@ne_one

The true value is really what someone is willing to pay for a asset, the IP owner's opinion or perception of that value isn't particularly valid.
Sure, McBill could sit on it awhile longer, and its value would further decrease.
It wouldn't surprise me, his business acumen has always been nil.

@ne_one

How would you know what "lines of communication" were open, or closed? You think that Bill McEwen, or Trevor and Matthew, or Jens of Individual Computers are going to discuss this topic in public?

Frankly, I don't think that the Amiga trademarks have any value anymore, and could even have a negative value to any product that is tied to that once proud and famous name. Very sad actually.
