| I have been given permission by Newtek to distribute the latest Amiga Video Toaster run time software for free and whilst I am sure it will only help people crazy enough to want to run the NTSC video toaster in a Pal region there may be more like me and some with NTSC equipment, note I cannot support you as this is a complex and expensive project except with the odd email support of my experience and videos. While I sort out the best place for it to reside if you need a copy of it please get in touch with me. Note, you need the toaster hardware and this is not a way to get Lightwave for free.
Please note I am not here everyday but will pop in at least once a week to check.

Thanks a lot for the information. That's super cool!
Do you know if there's a possibility to buy Lightwave for OS 3.1? Or who to contact at Newtek? _________________ Sometimes we give people a lot of credit just because they’re writing nice sentences even if it isn’t adding up to much. |

According to several users who own (or have pirated a copy), Lightwave for AmigaOS was released as a stand alone product, but needed a dongle to run it, in place of using the previous versions which were dependent upon having the Video Toaster hardware. This finally allowed users of accelerated A1200's (and I suppose even accelerated A500's), or big box Amigas that didn't have a Toaster card, to run Lightwave 3D, version 5. I can't remember the exact version number of the last AmigaOS compatible Lightwave 3D, was it 5.03, or some higher version number?
I would certainly like to get the very last Amiga compatible version of stand alone Lightwave, to run on my 060 accelerated A1200, and would also be interested in seeing how well Lightwave 3D will run on the Vampire accelerators, once they have completed more of the FPU instruction implementations, for that FPGA card. That would be a real test of how fast the Vampire accelerators are, IMHO. |

+1 would love it if Newtek has/had a newer version which was never relaeased for the Amiga before they went full PC as i'd gladly pay for it. today !
as for Vampire & Lightwave I'm curious to see the rendering times on my A4000 CSMKIII and vampirezed A500 when it gets full FPU and MMU _________________ ____________________________ c64-2sids, A1000, A1200T-060@50(finally working!),A4000-CSMKIII ! Hi Steve, thanks for trying to help but as I mentioned on Amiga.org its already been available for eons.
My quote from Amiga.org
"Perhaps you are not aware of this but the binary install software and manual have been available for free from DiscreetFX for many years. And of course the source code is also available. If you have something to contribute to Open Video Toaster please let me know. It's always nice to see interest and excitement for the Amiga Video Toaster/Flyer.
Google
Open Video Toaster
Install 4.3 ADF floppy and ISO of the Video Toaster/Flyer software are in the download section.
http://www.discreetfx.com/DownloadToaster.html
Video Toaster Manuals
http://www.discreetfx.com/Manuals.html
End Quote
Again it's always great to see an interest in the Amiga Video Toaster, its binary install software and the open source effort. Don't forget NewTek also has awesome new products. Unfortunately they are not for Amiga but they are fantastic solutions for any NewTek fan or potential customer. Last edited by DiscreetFX on 11-Apr-2017 at 02:41 AM.

Hi, I originally tried your site and links did not work.
@Thread
This as always has got more complicated and I trying to resolve, my contact at Newtek has mentioned copyright issues with the CD after initial agreement and so I am waiting for further response. Typical really, but if DiscreetFX can load it on their site then all the better because a number of people have contacted me.

Just out of curiosity were you downloading it with AmigaOS, Linux, OS X, or Windows when you had a problem with the Zipped version? Just wondering since no one else reported the issue.

I just clicked on the link and got a 404
Your site is now working so it is available again. At least we raised awareness again

Thanx, I'll check it when arriiving home and fix tonight or tommorrow for you. It used to be fine, what OS are you d/ling it with?
Update: I see that the hosting company we switched to has different naming conventions for their Linux server. It should hopefully be an easy fix when I login later on a desktop machine. Last edited by DiscreetFX on 12-Apr-2017 at 12:03 AM.

| To make it easier for everyone, for a limited time I have added the complete source code to the Amiga Video Toaster Flyer on the link below.
http://www.discreetfx.com/DownloadToaster.html
Get it while it's hot, we normally don't distribute the complete source this way. It will be removed after this weekend when the more limited versions of the sources are fixed on each applications link. _________________ Sent from my Quantum Computer. |

So the toaster cd iso contains the lightwave executable, but for it to work you have to get the toaster hardware that works also as copy-protection, I'm right? I tried to contact newtek to obtain a licensed version of latest amiga lightwave, without results..maybe someone of you have the right contacts to ask for? I think a "newtek amiga cd" with all newtek software (think of digi-paint, tv-paint and lightwave, with pdf manuals), priced fairly (something between 50-60 dollars) would be a good move for newtek (I will surely buy that cd!!).

It is a good point but they are an incredibly busy company and I think it is just a time thing. To be fair they moved away from Amiga so long ago that a lot of staff know little about them, however there are still engineers who are nuts about Amiga _________________ Amiga 1000, 3000D Toaster, Checkmate A1500 Plus http://www.checkmate1500plus.com/ |
