the web presence looks rather like offering remaining stock to improve the retirement. i dont see any new contemporary products on offer. while newtek even it might not be in a best shape is apparently still operating in a comercial market. i think it is a differece, even if you choose to ignore it, since it doesnt suit your agenda.

This is their new 'contemporary' product page. I thought you were interested in good Amiga software still for sale Why should they bother making the Amiga pages look pretty if they haven't updated the software? The point is it's still for sale!

Irseesoft/Zedonet Turboprint for Linux

is only a way to keep it commercially viable and legal

it might sanction the piracy that has taken place, it wont commercialize the product again except for those who imagine it. the company doesnt care about that usually.

look. there have been countless initiatives like that lately. some positive ones where the value of the software was even dimnished by the relevance oof the company or the product itself. sorry to say gp--software with dopus magellan, pfs-3, poseidon usb stack, things like that, on the positive list.

pn the other side there are still commericably viable companies like newtek or sas (of the sas-c fame) who wont go for sucha deal, because its not just a decission of a sentimental individual but a company policy that need to be signed with loyals and management.

Buy it don't buy why should I care I don't work for them!!! Plus I use Amigas not Linux machines. I like Graphics Publisher on Turboprint though. It could be worth it.

Your fantasies perhaps or a distorted sense of reality you have?

In 2000 Amiga was still a respected platform amongst video producers...

:D

do you have an example at hand?

i have got few a4000s around 2000/2001, last of which have been mustered out of minor tv broadcasting studios and video workshops of art academies in germany. even in the nineties, when i appeard in video studios with an amiga in suitcase i was using to record my stuff, there were never any amigas nor did they knew anything about amigas. there were 7200 power macs with fast video machine or whatever it was called for non liear editing. all else dedicated video hardware.

wait.. in one studio around that time i have seen a dusty 2000 with a genlock they have used for subtitling and in a cartoon animation studio i worked once they still had some a500 or a 1200 for line testing, if you know what that means. in the nineties my academy had shortly acquired some casablances, dont even know if they were still 68k based.

i know only one person who ocassionally used amiga in video work and installation after 2000. it was me.

so, heres mine distorted sense of reality. what do you have to report, based on your actual professional experience in this field?

@pgovotsos

Are you talking about the 4.3 Install floppy and or the 4.3 Install ISO? Please note, refresh your browser, the link I gave for downloads no longer has any zip files. Only an ADF & ISO image.

@wawa

You have no idea how was famous Amiga in TV productions here in Italy...

Just an example from my personal experience... There were 16 Local TV in Naples area in the nineties... and all literally ALL had Amigas for videoproductions... I spotted it sometimes when they guru-meditated, or forgot genlocked Workbench screens or DPaint, or any other blooper.
Also I worked for some time in an Amiga reseller and repair center here in Naples. Dozens of photographers used Amigas here for titling videos of weddings, that is a big business in south Italy...

A wedding in south Italy is an event... You made a portfolio book of the event... Videos of the ceremony, the video of the wedding lunch...

Here the link of example of a weeding video here in South Italy. You can find hundred of these videos on the web:

https://vimeo.com/110821414

It was amazing the number of professionals photographers who I met visiting the shop for repairing their Amigas or buying genlocks, software, and so on... and some I met again in recent times still remember Amiga today with nostalgic memories how they were introduced to videographics.

I remember the hype when my boss bought for the first time an Amiga VLab Motion. He organized 4 weekend meetings with photograhers. It was literally a spectacle welcoming at any meeting dozens of photographers who gathered to evaluate the product. You have simply no idea. You must had been there to get the perception how was well considered Amiga.

The last TV using Amigas here in Naples was a local TV called TeleAkery and I spotted in person the Amiga mousepointer they left for a mistake in a corner of screen. It was 2005 or 2007. It was very recent time considering how old is Amigas, and was really moving to spot there were still professionals still using it for their broadcast in so recent age.

In RAI TV italian national TV broadcasting they used dozens Amigas for various shows, including using Virtuality Amiga machines rented from third party external TV Production Centers, and tthey made also kid shows with phone TV interactive games with kids at home playing moving characters sprites using tones of the phone sampling the tones with Amiga, and also the sprites of the game were made with Amiga.

Here the Wikipedia Link of article describing big entertainment show for teenagers that RAI aired and that I am certain they used Amigas.

I agree, the trouble is very few people talk about the kit they use, it is just a great tool and gets the work done well so the awareness is low by the people viewing the content created by it.

I have same problem with my 360 video rigs, people are creating great content but nobody knows it is my rigs

Just the video switcher and main interface of the Toaster for now. Amiga Virtual Machine is Amiga Forever 2016 Premium/UAE/WinUAE/P-UAE or any Amiga VM that can run AmigaOS 3.x. It may work in real Amiga's too.

@DiscreetFX

What does this Toasterless video switcher software do? Does it switch sources among video streams or video files being played back or something like that?

@mbrantley

It lets you boot up the interface of the Amiga VT. It's the first step in a long process of making the Amiga Video Toaster work in a Amiga Virtual Machine. Hopefully it will allow you run programs designed for the Amiga version of the Toaster. Many 3rd party programs exist for it. It is not a video editor that can compete with hardware/software video editing solutions available today that work in HD & 4K
