its not a question of being fan of anything. it is essentially a pragmatic issue.

to be honest, running amiga applications on aros doesnt feel any much different than on, say 3.9, except for additional features, and ergonomy, which unfortunatelly still come at the cost of speed. thats admitted and a field for imprevement. other than that aros feels like a native os (even though still under development), at least for me.

@OlafS25

I think it have not the original name.
Wanderer is Workbench
AROS is AmigaOS
Call AROS AmigaOS and you will get a big boost

means nothing to me. im fine to run aros on an amiga, its enough of legacy justification i would need to be rning genuine software on genuine hardware.

curlously, how do you explain to yourself being a fan of vampire itself all the sudden? it isnt being called amiga, you know, especially if a standalone is going to surface. hell, it isnt even a real (68k) cpu! some even call it hardware emulation.. bad boy..

@wawa

Don´t underestimate name value - most of OS4/A1 mainstream media coverage is only thanks to Amiga name. MorphOS and AROS are no-name OSs in comparison.

@wawa

Like I don't know that?
AROS and MorphOS PCI drivers are quite similar.
Its AROS 68K's lack of PCI support that bother me.

Once a Vampire 1200 is produced, a PCI capable Amiga will be supported by this line of FPGA accelerators, but AROS 68K doesn't support the bus boards yet.
Making OS3.X the default choice.

So...if you want more people to choose AROS 68K over AmigaOS, support for PCI hardware would be helpful.

Boring. So fed up with all the "Replica".

Get a real name or a suggestion competition and don't ride with all the past.

Just spoiling that had been done. Been there , done that..

Maybe just call this Bill Gates Heaven Windows 7 the NG Amiga?

it is aros running on an AMIGA. it makes it more amiga that os4 running on some amigaone board. if you want the name, that is.. all honest.

picky as always.. for no real reason.

amiga 1200 is not pci capable (as such). it is a third party extension that demands serious a priori modifications including ripping the motherboard out of original computer and replacing it in some pc tower housing. all this effort will eventually be made obsolete by vampire accelerator alone. it will fit in an original case. it will certainly provide rtg and audio solution about to be on pair with the functionality of available pci expansion cards in an amiga. beyond that there will likely be standard buses like usb, ide and lan. i see no pressing necessity for pci bus support, which can be delivered later anyway. you know, aros is work in progress, same as vampire and apollo, dont you?

thats fine. its default anyway. nothing wrong with it. so why are you complaining about availability of alternatives? because you are accustomed to make wind against aros and apollo whenever you can, without any second thought? seriously..

I think you don´t understand what I mean: AROS and MorphOS are invisible for general public.

maybe not fully, but to the same extent as os4, they certainly cannot compete with recognition of amiga, namely a complete computer system from last century, no matter what operating system or software that computer runs.

i dont really care much for recognition of aros as label as long as it offers opportunities for functional improvements on amiga.
