Something makes me think it could be a price change for export, probably down to exchange rate/brexit (UK leaving the EU for those who don't know) _________________ Cross-developer on Windows, OS3, OS4, Linux; Current Projects:- Nephele Cloud App OS4 UserProfile System OS4 AmigaOneXE OS4.1.6

well the £ has dropped again against the other currencies, something i think to do with a certain Jeremy Corbyn getting a bump in the poll ratings. Believe me if he gets in, he will be a threat to world peace....

Corbyn? Don't tell me you're of the "strong and stable" troupe? If anything, the Conservatives economic policies are not working, that should be pretty clear by now. |

It seems that Amigakit one doesn't include a SSD unlike Alinea or Amedia ones. _________________ http://apps.amistore.net/zTools |

| Hi Everyone!
Being a long time Amiga user in the United States, and I have bought everything from A1-XE to AmigaOne 500, I was thrilled that we finally had an Amiga dealer in the USA again after Software Hut went away.
I was getting ready to buy An Amiga X5000 and the A1222. I want to buy this from an American dealer, so please, I am begging, solve this problem guys!! Haven`t we had enough fighting in the Amiga Community.
Thanks,
Yogi

I can't talk for all, but a lot of Ex Amiga distributors doesn't work together with A-Eon/AmigaKit. This is just another one who doesn't want to. I don't know any details but it seems as if AmigaKit/A-Eon does something wrong. This is might cripple AmigaKit/A-Eons success in a long run. |

| Holy cow. 36 pounds for an additional 2gig ddr3-1333 from amikit. That's more than a lot of 8gig (2x4G) kits of ddr3-1866. My local dealer lists 2Gig of ddr3-1600 at $17 AUD (about 7 pounds). Always knew they were a bit pricey compared to most places, but over %500 difference is a bit of a surprise. |

X5000s have been on public display for years (often running MorphOS ) and it does seem a case of AOTL being frustrated with AEONkit not the other way round.
AEONKit undercutting it's distributors seems the most obvious trigger. _________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |

It looks like they've cocked up somewhere on the website's scripting. If you go to the page for bare boards you can select 2GB for £18 or 4GB for £36. I assume they used the bare board page as a template and forgot change the 4GB option to £18.

He's referring to the case not being screen printed with the AmigaONE and Boingball branding. I don't know how long ago he got the system but I think some of the first system didn't have the branded cover although I think they were supposed to send them in retrospect. the later 2300 case they had to switch to doesn't have a branded cover at all.

The last archive of their X5000 page was from 27/02/2017 and listed a complete system for $1840. prior to the case change it was £1865.

Now substract 20%(?) VAT from AEONKit's price and your getting somewhere. _________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |

I see, Amigakit were undercutting them by a whole £21. You couldn't possibly explain that away with exchange rate fluctuations. What scamps!

The Fractal Case wasn't available in large supply in North America. AmigaKit had the screen printed doors and it's not their fault Amiga on the Lake couldn't source the correct cases._________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." Wether they were or were not undercutting depends on what margins (if any) AOTL had at those prices. It also seems that AEONKit offered "free" extras that customers had to pay for at AOTL.
Whatever it was, either the AOTL is a whiney crybaby making a big fuss about nothing (not that that would be a 1st in AmigaLALAnd) or something went seriously wrong between AEON and it distributors. _________________ - We don't need good ideas, we haven't run out on bad ones yet - blame Canada |

I think any profit AOTL were making was ploughed straight back into the Amiga community with their donations program.

I'm not interested in blaming anyone when we don't know the details. Both parties care about the Amiga so it's sad for everyone that there's been a bust up between the too.
