@clusteruk

and ive been fan and defender of the project since ive got track of it, very early. still have not even expressed necessity to have one. im too occupied helping to get aros68k on track as a viable open os for future amiga generations. i think we can get along with it, dont you?

I read that as divided among dealers and users who ordered direct.

Actually, if the #s of pre-order interests shown on eab are correct...
The #s show more already than the entire run of all AmigaOnes from SE Lite to SE to XE to Micro from Eyetech.

I'm still reading to see if anyone disputes these figures.

Are you asking if I am surprised?

yes. you, or anyone.. im not. ive always said that the interested userbase for genuine amiga improvements is magnitudes higher than the (derived) ppc scene. not that i want to gather any credit from being right again. its simply so obvious..

You must be new here. (evil grin)

http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/search.php

enter for keyword "accelerator" and for author "number6" and you'll have your answer.

http://orders.apollo-accelerators.com/

Here's the Vampire order count, showing at this count 2,497 having signed up to buy either the V600 or V500 variant. It does not show how many have already shipped, but by all accounts the guys have made a big dent.

I ordered my Vampire 500 V2+ in December, was asked to pay for it some weeks later, and received it in early May. Was a wait, but enjoying it immensely with my A500 now. (Which also benefits from that 512K trapdoor memory expansion you were kind enough to send my way a while back, my friend. Still appreciating that.)

I am uncertain about whether I will order the planned V1200, but surely will buy into the eventual standalone version.

number6, our old favorites LightWave version 3.5, ADPro, VistaPro and Scenery Animator all work very well on my vampirized A500, by the way. Just cannot run anything that requires a FPU, so had to go digging for integer versions. (No such thing for TVPaint, I don't think, alas, or for LW5.x.)

It is impressive.

Right product with the right capabilities, and at the right price and right time.

@mbrantley

Thank you for the post and the kind words Mike.

As long as you are mentioning terms like "big dent", I found it interesting that reports show this working on even the A1000 and CDTV.

If this really performs as expected on all models, then all of us who said that the "classic is dead" comment is undoubtedly the most insane comment ever made in amigaland...will be vindicated. Heh.

yet you act as if surprised now. nothing personal though, i value your input, even though i m not sure if is understand the obsession with the legal status of anything remotely amiga related. someone needs to do that, though, i guess.

@number6

There are some cool videos on YouTube showing Vampire boards working wonders in all these machines (600/500/1000/2000). Literally until the last moment, I was grappling with deciding WHICH of my good ol' machines to put my Vampire into. I ultimately decided on the 500 because that model was my first Amiga in 1987.

My 1987 machine even had an early keyboard with a C= key in place of the left Amiga key, and now I have that too in my "new" 500.

Only it is now the fastest, most capable 68K machine I own. And it is FUN.

And (relatively) inexpensive.

Just have the wait to grapple with, but that's getting better it seems. And the Vampire itself gets better, thanks to FPGA that can be updated.

I do get enthusiastic about stuff, but this one is job well done.

@mbrantley

I'm in the same dilemna Mike and originally wanted to put my Vampire (when it finally arrives) in my A1000 BUT I quicklyy shook my head as that's my all original Queen and will always stay WB1.3 (ACA500+ occasions aside but that's quick & easy zorro port expansion card) so it'll have to go in my A500 but 2 big problems..I have to finally dig it out of my parents basement from its original box and pray it starts up after a good 15 years of storage and no. 2 is the mancave can't spare a square mm BUT then again that's always an issue here so I'll have to figure something out eventually
