Hi there!
i've ported OpenBOR Engine to 68K Amigas. If you aren't familiar with OpenBOR it is the ultimate 2D side scrolling engine. OpenBOR is the open source continuation of Beats of Rage, a Streets of Rage tribute game originally developed by Senile Team
You will need at least an Amiga with a fast 68040 AGA or RTG to play this.
I uploaded it the Zone and to Aminet tonight but link still may need a few hours to appear - http://aminet.net/game/actio/OpenBOR.lha
Complete instructions available in the Readme.
Screen shots below are captured on my Amiga A600 with Vampire 2
Source Code available at - https://github.com/lantus/openbor
Video showing performance on real Amiga hardware (A4000, A1200, Vampire 2) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXvK8f3HnGM
I also livestreamed how I ported this over to the Amiga on my youtube channel over the past 2 weekends - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUbw0IXAmW2oq07GdYR7RXBJD6kqQQYTF if people were interested in that :)
Let me know how you like the port. I have fun working on this. Right then - off to play some Final Fight in OpenBOR :great
It works great on a 060 with 104MB of Ram! It's not compatible with the CD32 pad yet but there is a beta version that does work. AHI is required and a stack of 20,000 is recommended.
The PAK extraction process needs to be done on a Windows PC with the PAXPLODE tool provided and the 'data' folder created put in PAKS folder of BOR. Beats of Rage works great but haven't been able to get any other games to work yet. HE-MAN would be great as would Final Fight X. I'll keep trying. _________________ "Art challenges technology. An 060 is more than enough for Beats of Rage itself but maybe Vampire users will have more success with HE-MAN and the other games using the engine. _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

In the Youtube video the Vampire looks much smoother than the 060. Or am I missing something? |

You don't miss what you don't have but there's no visable judder or slow down like I remember on the Atari ST version of Final Fight when there was multiple enemies on the screen at once! _________________ "Art challenges technology. Did anyone ever get any game running on Amiga BOR engine other than the vanilla BOR game? Would really like to play Final Fight, He-Man etc but can't get it to work _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Lantus (Modern Vintage Gamer) had some other games running but not all. The following is a video with OpenBOR running several games on a 4000+040+Mediator Voodoo 3 and a 600 with Vampire.

Cheers good video. From the look of it, it would be worth my while trying both Golden Axe and Final Fight on my 060 if I can get the PAKs to load _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Could you ask your friend whether the He-Man pak is considered a heavy load for a Classic Amiga 060 RTG system? I saw that the 040 struggled but my experience with vanilla BOR on a 060 has been good.

Would love to get Heman / FFAlpha to work but no such luck Pak files load but the graphics are corrupted and yet standard BOR is fine!!! Do I have to use the -cgx extension in the shell? _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |

Managed to get a TMNT 1 level demo to work and also a 2 level X-Men short MOD where you can play as Psylocke or Cyclops, quite fun.
I guess some of these MODS are made for a higher resolution than the Amiga port supports?
I do have Final Fight and Knights of the Round on the PS2 so I should just dust them off rather than faffing with this

SWEET!!!! 'Final Fight Apocalypse' works on Amiga OpenBOR! It is set up like a pseudo sequel and it has Maki as well as the Final Fight lads!
So looking forward to this!

Managed to get Golden Axe: Curse of Death Adder and Final Fight Vs King of Fighters (a reworking of standard BOR with KOF characters and digitised versions of the programmers = weird)!
The key seems to be choosing pak files that are 30 MB and lower (perhaps that hints at the lower screen resolution required for the Amiga port). Well worth perserving with on an 060 (or Vampire obviously).
We just need 2 player support now
