Hi,

I am hoping someone can help and I also think others have had this issue, but I havent seen a solution.

PROBLEM: Floppy drives fail to read disks and will not boot. (DF0:) on an Amiga 4000

Sometimes on desktop I get the icons "DF0: unreadable" or "DF0?". Or worse, it will have 4 disk icons all of them "unreadable".

I am using an A4000 which I stripped everything from except the chip ram and CPU card.
Hard drive boots fine
Have tried multiple drives (including new on from AmiKit)
Drive light turns on. I sorta tries to read and then stops.
Have tried different cables (but not sure if those are PC, but do have twist on one)
Have tried multiple ROM versions (currently 3.1 latest)
External floppy also fails to boot
I can sometimes get my Gotek drive to work properly as DF1:, though I still get the other icons on the desktop. Even when Gotek works, it will NOT boot.

Any help appreciated. THANKS

@Gothmog

Do you hear the kickstart tick?
If you dont 2 things can be at large
1 cia chip blown.
2 its the power cable or flatcable.

I had a while back the issue of dfo not reqonized.
Was duo the cable and the psu.
Ive changed the psu and all trouble was away.
And refitted the cables.

Hope this helps.

Ps check the jumper on the a4000 mainboard for df0 df1.
