I have bought the Gigabyte K83 Mechanical keyboard, and it is giving problems on the X5000. (to bad.. )
When connected to the X5000 i get an error when the machine boots. Sometimes the keyboard is just not responsive at all...
The weirdest thing is when connected to the X5000... the Uboot screen with boingball is in Accelerated mode... the boingball spins factor 5 ....
For now i would not recommend buying this keyboard... _________________ AmigaOne X5000 -> 2GHz / 16GB RAM / Radeon R7 250 / M-Audio 5.1 -> AmigaOS 4.1 FE / Ubuntu Linux Amiga 1200 -> Recapped / 68ec020 ACA 1221ec / CF HDD / RetroNET connected to the world |

Sorry to hear that.
Maybe you can pack it up in a black box and sell it as an "X5000 Boot Accelerator".
I upgraded to a Rosewill V2 for Christmas. I _might_ repair the old V1 as a spare, but only if I can get another set of Boing Keys from TheDaddy.
I also managed to get the same Rosewill at work, so I get to use the same keyboard at home on Amigas and at work on Windows. That makes life a bit easier.
Somebody has a "USB Compatibility" thread somewhere.. might not be here on AW. That would be a good place to put this information if you can find that thread.

Well Lyle... for now i have plugged the keyboard in my PC and plugged the standard HP keyboard in the X5000. Not that satisfying but hey...at least it works..
Lucky for me the Cherry Red switches can do 50.000.000 keystrokes before failing.... so hopefully someone comes up with a fix.
Did i not see your name on my X5000 Technical manual

Somewhat off-topic, but not entirely:
Does anyone know what type of keyboard Commodore used to put into the Amigas? I loved its tactile response as well as its silence; most keyboards these days are silent alright, but feel awful. I'm not looking for the harsh, clackety IBM keyboards, mind; I really loved the Amigas' keyboards, and it seemed Commodore used the right style in each one. So, can anyone help out? _________________ I've decided to follow an awful lot of people I respect and leave AmigaWorld. I own use the Havic HV-KB395L with my X5K. It is picky on what USB port to be used. Had to be motherboard port and one lower down on the board, not the top ones, for some odd reason. I think the RGB needed more power and one of them finally allowed it to work. Otherwise it would work in other ports but would take 2 boots to get working. Weird.
Will not bring up early boot menu (so far but I have not tried over and over to see if a particular port would work) but I am not worried about that. I have a cheapie $7.99 USB keyboard if I have to use it or an Apple one if needed to get into early boot.
But for every-day, this RGB Mechanical I have worked great!

Thank you! So it's a Mitsumi hybrid, and of course those don't exist anymore. _________________ I've decided to follow an awful lot of people I respect and leave AmigaWorld. If for some reason you want to talk to me, it shouldn't take much effort to find me. |

I use a a Unicomp Ultra Classic. If you like buckling spring keyboards, they're the way to go. They're also using an older, simpler design. I guess that might work well with the OS4 Amigas? |

| @outrun1978 I?d definitely recommend TheDaddy's keycaps, combined with a high quality mechanical KB like Ducky.

I tested a Ducky One with X5000, and it has the repeted key problem, and occasionally keys are just not responsive, so that you have to press them two or three times before it has effect. |
Good news about Ducky One... I noticed the symptons described above disappear when the keyboard is switched from "N-Key Rollover mode" to "6-Key Rollover mode". There is a dip switch for that.
Regards,
Gregor |
I have a Ducky One keyboard, previously set at N-Key Rollover mode (default), with casual lost key presses. AllKeys commodity was set to control the multimedia (volume) & calculator keys located on the top right corner of the KB. I changed the dip switches to 6-key Rollover mode with typing improvement (no more lost key presses), but the multimedia keys now are totally ignored. Any suggested solution to the problem (or possible explanation?)
