| Hi All,
Looks like AmiFig has been getting development under the guise of "ZuneFig".
I'm not sure what it takes to port apps between Aros and OS4. Anyone have a tutorial or notes from having done it?
Anyone else take that on?
Cheers, Bill "tekmage" Borsari |

| @tekmage Some time ago i tried to port zunefig , but, zune/mui differences make their issues with which i wasn't in interest to deal. With amifig it was easer as it was mostly original code, while zunefig probably a lot rewriten and tested on aros only.

Might be possible to port it to MorphOS, OS4 IS a harder port even if you use MUI for OS4 as that isn't as compatible as the AROS and MorphOS implementations (for that matter porting from MorphOS to AROS has issues as well thanks to incompatibilities introduced in latter MorphOS implementations).
Issues like this should NOT be as much of a problem as they are. |

| perhaps if included in cotribs or rather ports and dealt initially with issues for 68k target which is big endian same as ppc it would be easier to port over. |

I doubt it can be all that difference as the hard part would always be the backport/rewrite of the Zune things to MUI .. in this regard MUI/OS4 or MUI/MOS would be pretty similar ... _________________ BACK FOR THE FUTURE

Iggy of course talk about things he know nothing about. Porting zune app from aros to aos4 the same 1:1 as porting zune app from aros to morphos, because mui on morphos and os4 are the same on 99.9% from the api point of view. I know what i say, i do mui ports to os4 and from morphos and from aros :)
Specially that phrase "as that isn't as compatible as the AROS and MorphOS implementations" make me feel facapalm about his knowledge (again). Iggy are easy target for any kind of propaganda, and in this topic he poisoned with those die-hards who scream that os4 version of mui is "frankenstain mui" full of incompatibilites, which is pure wrong. And i repeat hundrends of times already in different topics, that mui on os4 are _exactly the same from api side_ as on morphos. I.e. there is no needs _At all_ to make any changes in mui side anymore. Everything works as it.
Problem with easy porting its only when one want to port something to morphos or os4 from aros, or from os4 or morphos to aros, as Zune always bring some differences with which need to deal. I know what i say, as i not just talk about, but deal with few times.

The only significant 'issues' I am aware of rise from differences implemented in version 5 (although there are a few in version 4). 'Facepalms' aside, the code used to build up OS4 MUI 4 was an early version, but since it has the tacit approval of Stephen Stuntz, that in no way renders it a 'Frankenstein MUI'. That would be your term, and as usual, like many in the OS4 community, you're trying to stuff the term in my mouth.
As to your ability to code (and others), we've seen the ports that go in one direction, but I haven't seen any indication that the OS4 community intends anything other than attitude go the other way (as is apparent in the tone of your message).
Sure, Zune presented some challenges, but OS4 MUI isn't completely painless either.
In the meanwhile, I have contacts in the AROS and OS4 community that don't present this repellent confrontational attitude, so I can tolerate yours.
But don't assume that you understand my point of view because YOU are hostile, because I'm not.

| @kas1e I checked out the AmiFIG (ZuneFIG) code back in 2013 and made some changes to get it to compile and work. However, the tool windows were rearranged with GUI changes that moved gadgets around and changed images to color. I found the whole thing confusing compared to the existing OS4 version. Since I didn't spot any additional functionality I didn't do anything with the code. When I saw this topic, I checked out the current code and made a number of quick and dirty changes to get it to compile but 2 files prevented it from linking. I don't see any point it trying to get it to link just for some GUI changes. I didn't encounter any MUI issues to get it to compile but who knows if a binary would work on OS4.
