@SaludaLabs

I ordered my Vampire 500+ back in February. I use a 4 GB CF for my Boot drive and Utilities and a 16GB SD card for backups and games. I run my Workbench at 1280×720 16bit (HDMI SAGA drivers). It looks great and runs nice and fast. One of the best pieces of Amiga kit I have bought in a long time.

@SaludaLabs,

Too bad Amigakit does not have the expansion adapter for the A2000. Will probably get mine from Relic.

@Drewlio77

Thanks for the info for the video settings and HD set up. Hopefully my IDE CF adapter comes in quickly. I think will make use of the SD card option for storing games and documents.

So far I really like the Amiga OS 3.1 workbench book. Nice to have a printed book when dealing with OS's.

@QuikSanz

I have been looking for the CPU expansion adapter also, did they ever produce those?

Would love to have that options, for now I will mount the board straight to the CPU slot.

@SaludaLabs,

Relic has them but looks as though you can only get them with the vampire. Can't read the language so not quite sure.

@SaludaLabs

Hey, keep us informed as you proceed with your upgrade.
I am seriously thinking of following your leas and you'll be able to provide some useful insight.

@SaludaLabs,

I correct myself, maybe. Link here:

" http://www.relec.ch/frch/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=58&category_id=5&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=2&lang=fr&vmcchk=1&Itemid=2 "

Looks to be a line here that shows it maybe available alone:

" 2) dans un slot avec un adapteur à commander spécialement au prix de CHF 22.- / EUR 20 "...

However, Still not sure?

@QuikSanz

I reviewed the hardware page and did find it. I am thinking they do not have it in stock.

@SaludaLabs,

That's strange, from here I can go to the main page, scroll down and is shown on the bottom right.

Edit: Even says stock OK!

@SaludaLabs

As someone else mentioned, please do keep us updated. I've seen Dan Wood's review and it was encouraging (to me). Another review would be good.

With the Vampire 1200 on the roadmap, I may have to dust off my old A1200 and see if it'll still bootup.

I'll have to buy an SD card as my old IDE drive is only 80 MB and is mostly full. Hopefully I can connect the IDE and an SD card simultaneously so I can transfer data over, particularly the old BlitzBasic and Final Writer '97. And old MOD files, too, of course.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement for the plastic piece that was pushed to eject a floppy disk? I lost my piece years ago, and it's annoying having to use a pen to push in the release lever to eject a floppy.

Update:
Everything went very well, the Vampire Board is installed. No issues. I did confirm an issue with the GVP Harddrive SCSI II impact controller card that other people reported. Does not work with Vampire. Since I am going with the IDE compact flash set up that is not a big deal for me.

My compact flash will come in on Thursday.

Board installed with hdmi cable hook up. No issues.

HDMI output, note the drivers are not installed yet

I fire up Eye of the Beholder. It runs very smooth. I think the graphics are looking better on the intro with Vampire compare to the stock A2000. I am guessing it using the extra memory. Not sure.

Vampire 500v2 is up and running. Just got done installing Apollo OS image onto a 32gig compact flash drive.

Apollo OS

The new CF hard drive is booting good. I am still re-learning my way around the Amiga, it has been over 20 years. The OS came pre-config with common programs, games, and other stuff. I found a nice collection of Mods, and modern games.

Next: I want to build a raspberry pi rs232 wifi modem to telnet into old school BBS’s.
