The BBC have run out of ideas 12 years after they relaunched Dr Who for the 21st century in 2005. In a ridiculous attempt at creating media interest in the waning series they've decided to put the Doctor through a "sex change operation" during his upcoming regeneration The weirdy old Scot, Peter Capaldi is replaced by the Broadchurch alumni Jodie Whittaker!

The Independent: Capaldi replaced by Whittaker

Quote:
Chris Chibnall, who created Broadchurch, takes over from Moffat, the upcoming eleventh series marking a reunion between himself and Whittaker.

... no favouritism there then? Use your muse I guess

Rather than simply fire the writers, get back to the character's core persona and reinject some of the interesting story lines that were abundant during the Christopher Eccleston / David Tennant eras, they've instead just stirred up controversy. They followed recent form and attempted to push a politically correct (and sickeningly liberal) agenda rather than tell a story MOST of us and our children can relate to. They have simply attempted to disguise a flagrant promotion of non-polar sexuality and trans-sexual deviancy as a womens' equality move

The liberal bias of the BBC now knows no ends and you must certainly think twice about applying for a job there unless you are a black gay man who dresses up as a woman or vice versa

For the record; the Doctor is an ALIEN. In all previous incarnations up to and including Christopher Eccelstone he was played as an "ASSEXUAL" being with not a hint of interest in human sexuality beyond a slight queasiness! Then David Tennant kissed his assistant in a completely out of character move. Since then it's been no holds barred as demonstrated by the following storylines;

1) The sexually inappropriate jokes ad infinitum from John Barrowman
2) The Doctor (David Tennant) pimps Midshipman Alonso Frame (Russell Tovey) to Captain Jack Harkness (Barrowman again) in "The End of Time"
3) A female lizard woman and human lesbian shack up together in Victorian England (marijuana induced story line?) and become homosexual versions of Sherlock & Watson
4) Pearl Mackie becomes a lesbian assistant
5)... and now the Doctor himself is having a sex change!

Talk about ruining the premise of a character and the entire ethos of a series just to push an agenda!!! My children will never watch ANY episodes of Dr Who post Christopher Eccelstone in this house. Sad but necessary.

RIP Doctor Who 2017

As we'd like to remember HIM;

... the emphasis definitely should be on the word "WAS"

Good riddance Steven Moffat and thanks for setting your toy box on fire on leaving the building

At least some iconic Dr Who actors are in agreement with me;

Yes, Kris Marshall may look on in disbelief. He represents what could have been if the BBC stopped with all this propoganda and political correct posturing...

It might have actually returned to resemble family entertainment rather than an 'in-Doctor-ination' tool to warp the next generation!

To readdress the balance maybe will see a Tomb Raider film where Lara Croft played by Conchita Wurst (a transgender Israeli biological MAN who won the Eurovision Song Contest) falls off a cliff because "she / HE" wasn't looking where she / HE was going whilst reading a Germaine Greer book And then she / HE is promptly replaced with Nathan Drake, a character from the Uncharted video game series (definitely a HE and played by Jeremy Renner), as if nothing untoward had happened! Do you think that would be acceptable? Do you think Jeremy Rainer would be invited on the Ellen Degeneres show to discus this monumental change to the Tomb Raider series? No, because that twist doesn't promote her warped world view / agenda just like it wouldn't promote the BBC's biased agenda either! None of this has anything to do with good story telling and it definitely has nothing to do with serving the British public with wholesome unbiased programming which is the BBC's mandate!

Hold on Conchita!! NOOOOOOOoooo!!

Don't worry a sensibly cast actor will carry the rest of the (fictious) film and we'll pretend like Tomb Raider wasn't in the slightest bit defined by the fact the lead character was a woman ... a bit like it doesn't matter that Dr Who is a Time "Lord" and an ALIEN not a transgender liberal Londoner like the BBC wish HE was!

I think this chap said it best 3 years ago when the discussions ove Matt Smith's replacement were raging and Olivia Coleman's name was in the ring:

Taken from the Peter Davidson article linked to in my 1st post:
Quote:
C.Blimp, T.Wells, United Kingdom, 3 years ago

Sherlock Holmes is a man, Miss Marple is a woman. Moby Dick is a whale. Spare our innocent children the gender-bending neo-orthodoxy

... and this one sums up the mood of the moment if you disengage the lefty/liberal media spin-generator for a second;

Quote:
Tory Boy, Sydney, about 4 hours ago

The lefties can attack all they want; very few of them will watch the show anyway, the previously loyal fans wont watch it, nobody will watch it; such a shame - the BBC should be stripped of the rights to the show, it should be handed to people who care about it, and it should concentrate on scaring and entertaining, not lecturing and social engineering.

Ref: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4703032/Twitter-users-joke-backlash-against-female-Dr-Who.html

... it also includes a great tweet (though not understanding the pro-transgender agenda at the heart of the argument) regarding Jeremy Corbyn as the new Time "Lord". That was funny

This is still making the news and Peter Davidson is still standing his ground at Comic-con! Primarily his argument is that it's removing a strong role model for boys.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40679134

In other news that makes me think this decision is 100% motivated by a feminist / transgender agenda within the BBC the following quote was released;

Quote:
In an interview with the London Evening Standard, BBC director general Tony Hall said Whittaker would be paid the same as her predecessor "for the same amount of work".

... well that's the main thing Let's not worry about the story line, the character development or the long term viability of the programme! I foresee this being a disaster like the new Ghostbusters film was

Maybe true equality would be to match Capaldi's salary to Whittaker's on a viewer ratings basis? If she drops viewers she gets paid less

Equality of opportunity but not necessarily of outcomes = true equality!
If you're complicit with the destruction of a strong role model for boys and bring viewing figures down for the BBC then I say she should get paid less (and visa versa)

... the balls in your court BBC executives stop destroying characters to push an agenda and get a first refusal contract on Kris Marshall for 12 months time for when this stupid political correct decision blows up in your face

Perhaps the BBC were concerned that young girls might grow up thinking couldn't be a time traveling humanoid alien.

It turns out that Anita Sarkeesian is just as upset as you but for different reasons.

Quote:

I think Germaine Greer might be off the reading list due her "trans-exclusionary" views.

I think the desire for girls to see a leading female Time Lord (or technically a Time Lady ) character was already fulfilled with the story line about the Doctor's daughter;

In regards to your Germaine Greer comment; if Conchita is prepared to star in a film where a female character played by a transvestite / transgender / whatever HE is, is killed off in preference to a white male action hero played by a straight white guy in Jeremy Rainer, then I don't think she'll mind her CHARACTER (i.e. Lara Croft) reading a Germaine Greer book

In regards to Anita Sarkeesian, I suppose you are referring to this;

http://dailycaller.com/2017/07/17/feminist-critic-trashes-new-doctor-who-for-not-being-black-and-transgender/

Maybe Conchita (I could be HIS agent with all this potential acting work) should 'black up' like a black and white minstrel and then the BBC can cover all bases

or even better they could have a regeneration every week so that;

Week 1 = a disabled Doctor played by an actor of Chinese origin
Week 2 = a black Doctor preferably Lenny Henry because he covers two minority groups by being a black man and a unfunny comedian!
Week 3 = an albino transgender biological female with a Latino accent
Week 4 = a gay man with mixed race background

By week 5 just have the Doctor explode into a LGBT Rainbow Fireworks tribute with Louie Spence and Craig Revel Horwood doing a camp song and dance routine to 'celebrate' the Time Lord's 'coming out' into the stars

What makes this even more ridiculous is the inscription at (Old) Broadcasting House when it was opened in 1931.

Directly opposite the entrance, the great, stentorian Latin inscription booms out:

Quote:
"This temple of the arts and muses is dedicated to Almighty God by the first Governors of Broadcasting in the year 1931, Sir John Reith being director general. It is their prayer that good seed sown may bring forth a good harvest, that all things hostile to peace or purity may be banished from this house, and that the people, inclining their ear to whatsoever things are beautiful and honest and of good report, may tread the path of wisdom and uprightness."

Ref: Old Broadcasting House in the 1930s

... how the mighty have fallen. They now worship at the alter of liberal anti-family values and are unable to protect the nation from "all things hostile to peace or purity"!

Going back to the Tomb Raider/Uncharted part of this thread; it seems the next Uncharted game has far more emphasis on the female characters. Hence, I repeat, to readdress the balance in this sex change politically correct craziness how about killing off Lara Croft in favour of a male Tomb Raider? Would that be tolerated in the same way as a sex changed Dr Who?

https://www.polygon.com/2016/5/23/11748426/uncharted-4-neil-druckmann-interview-women-characters

Quote:
One character whom Naughty Dog changed from a boy to a girl was Nate's child, who appears during the game's epilogue. The original plan was for Nate to have a son; this character instead became his daughter.

It not as if Horizon Zero Dawn wasn't released this year with a strong female protagonist!
