I think this chap said it best 3 years ago when the discussions ove Matt Smith's replacement were raging and Olivia Coleman's name was in the ring:
Taken from the Peter Davidson article linked to in my 1st post: Quote:
C.Blimp, T.Wells, United Kingdom, 3 years ago
Sherlock Holmes is a man, Miss Marple is a woman. Moby Dick is a whale. Spare our innocent children the gender-bending neo-orthodoxy |

... and this one sums up the mood of the moment if you disengage the lefty/liberal media spin-generator for a second;
Quote:
Tory Boy, Sydney, about 4 hours ago
The lefties can attack all they want; very few of them will watch the show anyway, the previously loyal fans wont watch it, nobody will watch it; such a shame - the BBC should be stripped of the rights to the show, it should be handed to people who care about it, and it should concentrate on scaring and entertaining, not lecturing and social engineering. |
Ref: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4703032/Twitter-users-joke-backlash-against-female-Dr-Who.html
... it also includes a great tweet (though not understanding the pro-transgender agenda at the heart of the argument) regarding Jeremy Corbyn as the new Time "Lord". That was funny

Perhaps the BBC were concerned that young girls might grow up thinking couldn't be a time traveling humanoid alien.
It turns out that Anita Sarkeesian is just as upset as you but for different reasons.
Quote:
To readdress the balance maybe will see a Tomb Raider film where Lara Croft played by Conchita Wurst (a transgender Israeli biological MAN who won the Eurovision Song Contest) falls off a cliff because "she / HE" wasn't looking where she / HE was going whilst reading a Germaine Greer book |
I think Germaine Greer might be off the reading list due her "trans-exclusionary" views. |

I think the desire for girls to see a leading female Time Lord (or technically a Time Lady ) character was already fulfilled with the story line about the Doctor's daughter;
In regards to your Germaine Greer comment; if Conchita is prepared to star in a film where a female character played by a transvestite / transgender / whatever HE is, is killed off in preference to a white male action hero played by a straight white guy in Jeremy Rainer, then I don't think she'll mind her CHARACTER (i.e. Lara Croft) reading a Germaine Greer book Last edited by BigD on 21-Jul-2017 at 09:24 PM. In regards to Anita Sarkeesian, I suppose you are referring to this;
http://dailycaller.com/2017/07/17/feminist-critic-trashes-new-doctor-who-for-not-being-black-and-transgender/
Maybe Conchita (I could be HIS agent with all this potential acting work) should 'black up' like a black and white minstrel and then the BBC can cover all bases
or even better they could have a regeneration every week so that;
Week 1 = a disabled Doctor played by an actor of Chinese origin Week 2 = a black Doctor preferably Lenny Henry because he covers two minority groups by being a black man and a unfunny comedian! Week 3 = an albino transgender biological female with a Latino accent Week 4 = a gay man with mixed race background
By week 5 just have the Doctor explode into a LGBT Rainbow Fireworks tribute with Louie Spence and Craig Revel Horwood doing a camp song and dance routine to 'celebrate' the Time Lord's 'coming out' into the stars Last edited by BigD on 21-Jul-2017 at 09:26 PM. What makes this even more ridiculous is the inscription at (Old) Broadcasting House when it was opened in 1931.
Directly opposite the entrance, the great, stentorian Latin inscription booms out:
Quote:
"This temple of the arts and muses is dedicated to Almighty God by the first Governors of Broadcasting in the year 1931, Sir John Reith being director general. It is their prayer that good seed sown may bring forth a good harvest, that all things hostile to peace or purity may be banished from this house, and that the people, inclining their ear to whatsoever things are beautiful and honest and of good report, may tread the path of wisdom and uprightness." |
Ref: Old Broadcasting House in the 1930s
... how the mighty have fallen. They now worship at the alter of liberal anti-family values and are unable to protect the nation from "all things hostile to peace or purity"!_________________ "Art challenges technology. Going back to the Tomb Raider/Uncharted part of this thread; it seems the next Uncharted game has far more emphasis on the female characters. Hence, I repeat, to readdress the balance in this sex change politically correct craziness how about killing off Lara Croft in favour of a male Tomb Raider? Would that be tolerated in the same way as a sex changed Dr Who?

One character whom Naughty Dog changed from a boy to a girl was Nate's child, who appears during the game's epilogue. The original plan was for Nate to have a son; this character instead became his daughter. |
It not as if Horizon Zero Dawn wasn't released this year with a strong female protagonist! Last edited by BigD on 02-Aug-2017 at 02:02 PM.
