@g01df1sh

Hmm.. Good question.

Last Ninja on the C64, just cause it was the first game I purchased (or should I say, my parents/cassette).
Wonderboy on C64 is up there too, cause of the racing aspect between friends.
Timing/score competition.

Amiga... Superball 2 and The Secret of Monkey Island.

@g01df1sh

For the Amiga it's Speedball 2 hands down followed by the Settlers followed by Napalm

In the arcade/PS2 it's Outrun 2 Coast to Coast or Final Fight

On the PS3 it's The Last of Us

On the Mega Drive it's Road Rash 2 or Micro Machines 2: Turbo Tournament

Probably more, but just on the Amiga and C64 I have a list that is not in any particular order as I tend to have a favorite that matches the mood of the day.

Civilization series
Bally - simple free, and lots of fun.
The Red Baron - so real people hated it, but most realistic of any of the flight sims.
Stunt car racer
Pirates
Breach
Earth orbit station
Gear works
Wayne Gretsky hockey
Brutal sports football - "Ice Cream"
Links
Fort apocalypse

@amigang

You my friend have impeccable taste Chase HQ is available for the PS2 on the Japan only Taito Memories 2 Gekan. It was worth getting it on import It also has Rainbow Island: Extra Version, Operation Wolf, Battle Shark and Plump Pop!

Plus Sega Rally ('Revo' for the rest of the world) for the PS3 is up there with Outrun 2: Coast and Coast.

I also love Worms Revolution with the great voice over from Matt Berry!! It's perfect casting for the vibe of the game Not enough player play online though on the PS3 or Mac. If anyone's interested let me know

@Thread

This is a great recent article regarding classic arcade titles, some of which are already mentioned in this thread:

Just to say got to try Amiga on my Pi3 last night. Projectx and xenon megablast run super smooth and looked great on my BenQ 17" LCD using hdmi to vga adaptor. Did not get uae4all to work so used uae4arm. Just got black screen with uae4all

@g01df1sh

Lemmings was completely original for its time, immensely addictive, and succeeded on many platforms (starting with Amiga).

I've never played Shadow of the Beast, but people say it was revolutionary.

I did play Wing Commander on the Amiga but it went too quickly (on an A500 anyway); the PC version seemed timed better & thus playable. But on the PC Wing Commander was fabulous.

I agree with Civilization; the day that arrived in the mail, I missed the rest of the day of classes & even dinner at the college where I was. I didn't realize it was 8.00 in the evening! (started at 11am)

I have to add Android Nim, which for its time was pretty state-of-the-art (on a TRS-80 Model I) and possibly helped lead me to a career in mathematics. At the very least, I published one paper on a game that generalizes Nim. (Android app in development, almost ready: so there's going to be an "Android" Ideal Nim, too!)

Totally subjective. I guess all you can do is reflect on the games that you have spent most time playing and enjoyed. For me they kinda fall into game types and I would play one or the other depending on the mood. If I were to trawl through the library I would find many I have forgotten but these sprang to mind as the most obvious contendors.

World of Warcraft Played every day since 2008 ( Rift/Archeage/SWToR/Guildwars)
Final Fantasy the series starting with VII at the top - Xenosaga
Tomb Raider up until the latest shooter nonsense - Uncharted
FIFA Soccer enjoyed 11 best - Sensible World of Soccer in SIM mode
Age of Empires - Civilisation - Settlers - Command and Conquer
Resident Evil - Dino Crisis - Parasite Eve - Silent Hill
Bayonetta - God of War - Timesplitters - Heavenly Sword - Halo - Duke Nukem
Ridge Racer - Driver - Grand Theft Auto - Gran Turismo - ReVolt
Ishar Messenger of Doom - Dreamweb - Valhalla (series)
SimCity2000 - SimCity
Manic Miner-Arcade Snooker-Invaders

More than the top ten but hey...
