Show Info

AmiWest is the premier Amiga show in North America. For 20 years AmiWest has provided a haven for like-minded individuals to come and celebrate all things Amiga. The show has seen the introduction of new Amiga hardware and software. We have seen CEOs of Amiga companies come and go. Through it, all our goal has to been to create an environment for all Amigas, classics, compatibles, and next-generation systems users can come together and share ideas and good times. Every year we work hard to improve the show experience by having themes and seeking out the leaders of the community to join us and you for the weekend. Since 1998 the show has been internet enabled. Starting with an IRC, then audio broadcast, to today where video and audio are broadcast and posted to YouTube in near real-time.

Saturday at 10 AM the show opens with a presentation by one of the sponsors. The show floor will contain items for sale from AmigaKit covering Classic Amigas and Next Generation Amiga systems. Hyperion is present showing the latest developments of AmigaOS 4. A-Eon will be showing the latest in hardware developments. Other Amiga related companies come to show their products and interact with the community directly. In addition to the commercial exhibitors, AmiWest also hosts users groups and individuals. These folks travel to the show on their own funds to share their excitement for the Amiga and Amiga-compatible systems such as AmigaOS 4, AROS, MorphOS, and Emulators.

the hotel booking code has just been posted over at the amiwest blog:

Quote:
Hotel rates are final! After much internal negotiation, AmiWest 2017 hotel rates are now available for reservations. Please see the Reservations Page at this link for the link to the hotel website.

The rates are $95.00 US for a double room and $119.00 US for a suite. See the reservations page above for more information.

When reserving online, the reservation group code is AMI. Please enter this code in the group code box when reserving online.

If you have trouble with the group code, simply call the hotel front desk at 1-916-923-1100 and ask for Joseph. He is the front desk manager. He is familiar with our show and will make sure that you get the AmiWest rate.

i've already booked. i hope to see many of you at the show!

ok, so the good news is that there are so many people coming to amiwest, that we broke the hotel. just kidding. it looks like saturday night is heavily booked at the show hotel, but the show organizers have made arrangements at the hampton inn next door for folks who haven't yet made their hotel arrangements.

if you still need rooms for amiwest 2017 and are unable to book at the show hotel, here's what to do:

* call the hampton inn next door. the number is +1 916 927-2222
* ask for shiva or rayna, ask for the amiwest rate
* if you have any problems contact brian at amiwest.net

the reservation page should be updated with this information shortly. in other news the amiga devcon is shaping up nicely, with presentations from steven solie of hyperion entertainment, hans de ruiter of A-EON technology, and jaime krueger of bitbybit software in plan. other developers are also planning on attending, such as mark ritter, author of workbench explorer. so if you're interested in the devcon, don't delay -- make your arrangements now!

Quote:
the plan is to show AmigaOS 4.1 running on the AmigaOne A1222 in a live public demonstration for the first time. Although there is still some work needed to done on audio and Ethernet drivers before the AmigaOne A1222 can be commercially released, the FPU optimization appears to be progressing well.

I'm going to make it this year and I SHOULD have a nice presentation on my X5000 if everything shows up on time and works out during install friday. I'm also going to bring my heavily modified A2000 with vampire in it to show as long as I can get it packed okay. I had surgery the other day so me even making it out is kinda silly, but this is the Amiga show after all!
