I don´t know. Dnetc can use all CPU cores (result rises linearly).

Interesting stuff.
Not only does it potentially open the door to running OS4 on more affordable hardware, but that ever elusive laptop may end up with a better option than Winuae (as commendable as that effort is).

Wow that's a lot of patches :)

Out of interest, how close would you say this is to getting QEmu to a point of being able to boot AmigaOS?

(also is there a git repo I can access that has all the patches applied?)

you mean os4? being in contact with the developer over aros dev ml i assume its pretty close and that he aims for it. however there may be not enough people testing this emulation against actual hardware in order to support it as alternative. so far of amigalike ng oses only aros ppc boots on it, ive been told.

edit:, note thst the autor doesnt own a sam himself.

Yeah I asked because of the AROS mention in the patch notes. Wish I had access to a Sam, or knew someone who had one, I would be bugging them to help out :)

Sorry for being a n00b, but what does this mean exactly?
Will it be possible to emulate a complete sam460 on a PC? Including Radeon video card, sound and network?
If so this should be much better than WinUAE for OS 4.1 emulation, since it's limited to Blizzard PPC emulation, right?

All Sam460 included the sii gpu and a sii 3114 controller . about radeon this is the qemu passthru option and will need to be test if it will work on a compatible modern hardware.

@tlosm

So if today I install QEMU under linux ppc on a powermac g5.. can I install a Amigaos4.1 dvd for sam460 and use it as a real amiga? If answer is YES.. is it stable? And for last can I use KWM to avoid any kind of emulation (ie slow down) and use only virtualization?

@Fl@sh

It interesting question, the PowerPC family consists of many ISA standards, different ISA standards support different PowerPC instructions, some of this instructions are emulated already by AmigaOS, for different hardware configurations, PA-SEMI is similar to G5 but is not compatible to G5.

This is a problem with AmigaONE-X1000 E-UAE for example is not fast it should be compared to G4 versions of JIT version, and if you compile as G5 is something wrong with it's only as fast as Vampire but should a lot faster. (Some instructions did not behave the same, the where color problems in some apps).

I suspect there might problems running AmigaOS4 visualized on the wrong ISA standard. unless this missing instructions are trapped end emulated.
