The X1000 isn't on sale anymore. Amigans aren't going to buy this machine for 4k video and Altivec was never on the cards with the X5000's CPU. The Ram issue may be a cause for concern but quite frankly we are in a far better situation than the Eyetech / Teron board days so I think you are just a benchmark troll with an unhealthy infatuation with obsolete towered Apple hardware!

Take up your issues with A-EON or the supplier and stop attempting to destroy their businesses! It might not be the right product for you but last time I checked the Amiga scene was not competing on performance with the rest of the computer industry. The PA-6T was end of life, the X5000 has 'similar' performance to the X1000 and therefore A-EON achieved their goal.

Your Honor,

My purchase an X5000/020 motherboard was guided by the hands on report
of someone I then deemed to be knowledgeable about such matters . .....

Your Honor, many public postings and videos to the effect that this machine has great potential were made by the same person who has publicly announced that he is has advised the company responsible for the manufacture of the said machines .

So go and use Linux on a Raspberry Pi 3 join a Linux forum and live a happy and productive life. If you are interested in helping the development of the X5000 contact A-EON directly! The majority of the rest of us here don't give a rat's arse about Linux

@Spectre660

i discovered all after buy the 5040 because start really investigating the cause of the bad performances...
before i was thinking all was just because the bad uboot and the only two cores compared the g5 quad.

when i had the 5040 i see this machine with 200mhz more for core and the two extra cpu and ddr3 1600 cant made the same performing of the quad who have slower ram and only pcie 1.1

i start reading here and there and study the uboot for understand where can be the issue.
The slow ram can be because the cyrrus dont manage the interleaving or interleaving is not working plus the e5500 dont have the numa.

The cooling issue i start watching only in this summer my first report was in june where in italy we had 38.

I was not the only one who know this problems that i been reported, sorry but some other friend can warn you about.

... now you know all is business.

Sounds like bad blood between you and A-EON, a bad attitude on your part and now you're throwing your teddies out of the pram!

Either way you are not an unbiased reviewer of the X5000 and I really don't respect your opinion on whether the X5000 is fit for purpose or not. You're bitter and spouting some dubious statements about hardware that is primarily for AmigaOS and on that front the hardware is more than fit for purpose and the software lets the whole thing down NOT the hardware!

i.e. No SMP support, a less than ideal web browser situation and no Libre Office yet!

You should not be publicly attacking a company about a product that has not been released or demonstrated to the public yet.

.u are not an unbiased reviewer of the X5000

the important thing is that you are alerted then everyone is free to do what he wants,I'm ok with my conscience.

dont say again the Qoriq e5500 is primary for amigaos ... it is born for use linux first.

you dont know that the only hardware change from x5000/20 to x5000/40 is the cpu module.
This is the reason why some one ask to refund the extra bucks pay by me compared to the other beta tester only if i was signed the nda after one year that i become mad for made this board work.

@tlosm et al.,

It has been almost a year since I sold my SAM460ex lite. Having used a Chromebook and Windows 7 PC as my main computing experiences for a year, I really miss using AmigaOS 4.1 FE (update 23-1/3?). I had been hoping to get a X5000, but my income has gone down this year. So, I started hoping in possibly getting the A1222.

With all of the trashing of the P1022 CPU in the A1222, I started thinking again about scraping together every nickel I could save to get the X5000/020. Now I am being told that the X5000 is slow by Mr. Benchmark... or is it Marty Feldman? I always get them confused.

I seem to remember Commodore shipping underpowered 7 MHz machines. It was up to hardware developers and users to find creative ways of getting more speed out of their Amigas. Of course now with the NG machines, the days of accelerators are gone. If more speed can be achieved, it will have to be through software improvements (accessing the SPE in the A1222, SMP on the X1000 and X5000, etc.).

Is the X5000 worth its price? As someone who makes less than the average high school dropout, seeing many inexpensive AROS and MorphOS options available for a fraction of the price, perhaps it is not worth it. However, the OS4 software in which I have invested will not work on AROS or MorphOS. If I want a new machine to run OS4.x, I will have to get hardware that makes little sense in terms of money and performance. If I made an extra $10 grand a year, the answer would be an easy yes. I don't have disposable income.

Congratulations, tlosm, you have for now turned away a prospective buyer... or at least discouraged him.

[Edit: I wrote this in a bad morning mood. My apologies for the rant.]

at the end:

if they dont made me discovered that i pay the machine more than other.
if they gave a reply or a resonable reply to hardware issue that i found.
if they dont try to made joke me with a "refund" only if i had signed the nda.
if they solve this issue photo
... and some other thing really worst that i will not write just because probably you will change the view of see someone.

... probably all this will not come.

All you're really proving is that it is not sensible to be an early adopter or to buy AmigaOne hardware to run Linux. Both of those things I have no intention of doing so I say thank you for your warning but if I had the disposable income I'd still buy one.

is what im say for very beginning this machine is ok for amigaos and mos and if you have extra money you can buy it .... but dont use linux on it or you will start understand the true machine performances.
