Thalamus Digital have launched their first kickstarter in a series of planned remasters of their original C64 cartridge game library.
The first title up for the remastering treatment is Hunters Moon, which is being made in conjunction with the game's original author Martin Walker.
To quote from the project:
"The premise behind Hunter's Moon Remastered is to not only re-release the game on cartridge, but also update it according to modern design sensibilities. What would the game would be like had it been released today? What if Martin Walker had more time? What if the game had more levels? What would gameplay be like with in-game music?
Hindsight is 20/20, but remastering the game for cartridge not only allows us to make minor tweaks, bug fixes, and improvements, but also to explore some of those ideas to update the game. And naturally, we want to create something which is luxuriously packaged and looks great on a shelf next to a string of Thalamus Remastered games."
New features include new levels (on top of the originals 255 procedurally generated levels), new graphical enhancements and additional layers of parallax, new packaging, manuals, box artwork and cover artwork by Oliver Frey, new loading screens and in-game music by Matt Gray.
Some of the stretch goals (all set at very respectable levels over the main goal) include new intro and outro animations, new music, more ships, random levels, improved packaging, further game optimisations. _________________ Test sig (new) |
