| Having a sort out of all my old Amiga stuff and trying to remember how it was all setup.
I remember having an Eyetech buffered IDE adapter and remember the "buffered" part being important.
I had a 1GB 3.5" hard drive and a 4x CDROM drive (FX400)? Pretty sure i still have the adapter somewhere, I think the HD evetually ended up in my PC. As did the external Floppy Drive. Hoping i still have these items and they didn't get thrown away.
Did all the adapters have 2 x 2.5" connectors and 2 x 3.5" connectors? Is it the same as the modern versions?
Anyone got a picture of the genuine one?
Thanks Dave

Thanks, was that the only version they made?
Its been so long since i last used it, its like starting all over again :)
Although it seems to be easier these days with the help of a PC and UAE etc.
I remember having to copy stuff off the A500 CD drive over a parallel cable which took forever and ever. :)
Just connected up the 8MB RAM board and it didn't detect it. Powered off and propped it up with a remote and it detects it. May have to add some solder or packing to the edge connector.
So many questions :)
Thanks

I'm assuming you haven't got the A1200 in it's case at the moment. Accelerator sockets can wobble a bit on the A1200 edge connector but the desktop cases hold them pretty firm so you should need to do any work. |

Hi
This is one of the new ones.
http://amigakit.amiga.store/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=194
Its ok for a A1200 in original case but in a tower with bus board its not a good design. The old eyetec one was better for tower use. Is anyone else making buffered Ide interfaces?

I have a few of those and interestingly they all say ... 4xEIDE ELBOX comp. I also have a whole box of stuff like the Data Flyer that I dip into for ribbons, cables etc. Amazing what I get to need sometimes.

There are a whole variety of the interfaces for the various machines. In truth I hate them. The one on the 1200 tower needs a tweak every now and then just to get it going.
Problem also with the tower is the Blizzard hanging off the connector. I have a piece of cardboard wedged under the bottom to stop it falling off.
RAM cards and accelerators have one or two issues with connections. I have one that refuses to be detected till I close the trapdoor. Also you can get a short sometimes across the connector face with the shielding. I have an Apollo that just keeps throwing up an error every time I closed the case. So annoying.
All good fun.

| Yeah the A1200 is currently flat on the table, not in the case. Going to whiten the case because its partially yellow in places and white in others.
Unlike the VIC20 i have thats turned a dark brown all over, the A500 is fairly dark but also fairly even. I may whiten that also, nothing matches currently.
Not detecting the 8MB board at all now. I setup the CF card on my PC using UAE, this cannot disable the addon board can it?
Going to stop trying it until its back in the case, going to break something if i keep trying it.
The A500 is doing the same now also, not detecting the 0.5MB card.
Any cheap options that does not use 30 year old parts and not costing more than i paid for the computer 30 years ago?
Thanks.
I have quite a few boxes of cables and bits collected over the years. Just found a Megalosound adapter for the Amiga. I think it records audio onto the Amiga.
