We could still be a year away from the release of the Tabor IMHO . The A.L.I.C.E. laptop will be the big release with a release date given for the rest of the world!

@Thread

Do you know what? I'd be happy if there was an Individual Computing / AmigaKit joint announcement that the Rapid Road USB card could now be used with the Prisma Megamix clock port! I'd be over the moon and it would demonstrate jointed up thinking and collaboration between different Amiga companies. I live in hope

@thread

here are my predictions for amiwest 2017:

1. everyone who is actually here will have a fantastic time
2. whatever is announced will be torn apart by the forums
3. quite a few of us will have hangovers sunday morning

beyond that, i have no idea. but those are the three things that happen every year.

hmmm 'girlfriend OS' running natively on AmigaOS4.x hardware? maybe it's the promised OS4.2 but why not 64 bit to match A-Eon CPU's or more likely yet another Linux distro emulating AmigaOS

A1222 Update (maybe a release?)

an awkward update to AmigaOS4.1 / OS4.2 Progress
(thats how they have seemed the last few years any way)

LiberOffice port update would nice (it was suppose to be in beta this time last year so surprise we haven't got anything yet)

Update to the other ports and project that A-eon are working on would be nice, even if its a simple as this..

OctaMED - looking for developer
Aladdin 4D - On hold
ImageFX - in Alpha

Etc

Cloanto and Hyperion and Amiga trademarks discussion would be interesting too.

@thread

We will see a few more Amiga widgets, icons & images.
Nothing like moving to a platform independent UI, nothing like Sketch app etc its too difficult.

"About a decade ago or so, it was fashionable to model a GUI in a cross-platform flavor of XML (like XUL) and then have a platform-specific rendering engine process that XML-file to display a layout. It is no longer fashionable to do this, however. Today, in 2017, the trend is to build your apps on platforms that allow you to write everything in HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript, no matter what environment your code is supposed to run in."

- Xamarin.Forms for cross platform development.

A few weeks ago when I asked on IRC if the Apollo team had any plans for AmiWest BigGun replied "when is it?". So unless he was playing dumb there's unlikely to be any Vampire announcements there, I think the team are keeping their powder dry for Amiga 32 Germany. If there is anything at AmiWest it may just be AmigaKit announcing there expected price and availability for the 500 V4.

I don't keep up with OS4 so not sure what if anything to expect relating to it.

I expect A-eon will have something to say about their products and plans but mostly OS4 related rather than classic. Maybe they will confirm pricing and a release date for the A1222 board.

@g01df1sh

Bill Gates and Steve Wozniak announce that they are coming together to make a multi-billion dollar investment in AEON and Cloanto, "for the sake of the children."

Apollo Team announces a standalone 5GHz Vampire 680000 (not a typo) PCI card that you can plug into a PC motherboard, access via ssh in Linux on the same machine, and show all your friends how they're still stuck in 1990s technology.

The AROS devs announce an AROS phone with an Android subsystem, so that you can run all those Android apps (not that you'd want to, but you have to attract the uninitiated somehow).

Hyperion announces that, from now on, all development for AmigaOS 4.x will be done in a "civilized" language like Ada or Modula-3, for which Tom Breeden has produced a new compiler: C and C++ are banned for ever. The share price in Aglet Software will jump by several orders of magnitude, so invest now!

(Hey, if you're going to dream, dream big!)
