So it's been long since my Peg2 died and I've now lost any hope (or even will) of having it repaired. I had some partitions that were SFS2 formatted. Now, I don't remember exactly if it was formatted in the 68k SFS2 or the AOS4's version. I'm going to put the HDD, which is IDE, on a cheap USB3 adapter and see if I can access it from WinUAE. But before I get the patience to do that, does anyone know if it's possible to access the AOS4's version of SFS2 without an AOS4 machine ? The only way I can think of would be buying AOS4 Classic and installing it on WinUAE...

Cheers to all

@Jose

68k SFS2 should be able to read OS4 SFS2 partitions.

You only need to make SFS2 available to the system. Either save 68k SFS2 to the RDB of your OS4 harddisk or add an RDB-mode HDF with SFS2 in the RDB to the same config.

@Jose

As long as you use Jörg Strohmayer’s OS4 and 68k version on both ends you should be fine.

But don’t mix with the original SFS for Amiga/MorphOS.

Hey :) Worked great, apparently the 68k version of SFS2 was already installed so I just used winuaehf.device and it worked. The one thing I couldn't access was the boot partition, which was formated in FFS2, I know there is a 68k version of that too but apparently the partition has the ppc version on the RDB. Is the 68k version available or for sale anywhere ?

@Jose

The 68k version of FFS2 is in the L directory of the OS 4.1 Classic CD, since it is needed for installation in the RDB of a Classic machine (so the old ROM-based Kickstart can use it during initial boot).

BTW, you should never install a PPC version of any filesystem into an RDB. It should be in the Kickstart directory only, and referred from the Kicklayout file. Only 68k filesystems should be installed in RDBs.

Best regards,

Niels
