Hello to all , today I received an Ati 9000 pro from Germany to replace my 9200 se ati on my amigaos4.1 machine.

Is it normal that the Os and the Sysmon of ztools reports that I have an ati radeon 9000 ?
The card is actual a 9000 pro ...
Do I have to do something for the Os to report the correct VGA card? Maybe install a driver or something?

My Pegasus II has a G4 CPU at 1266 MHz installed and I want to make it as fast as possible so this is way I purchased the new VGA card but I cannot still watch 720 P videos with SMtube without the correct sound that is left behind the video while I am watching.

Is this possible with my machine or it cannot be done ? Any other Pegasus II with G4 owners out there ?

And one final thought , what is the problem with Smtube and dosn't have a 480P option to watch the u tube videos is this a u tube problem or something must be done in Smtube side?

Thank you in advance for possible answers.

What software are you using ? Been long since I tried, my PegII died a few years back with the infamous north bridge problem but I remember there were Altivec versions of the mpeg decoder, I think it was ffmpeg, that were faster than the non AltiVec versions.

@Jose

Is ffmpeg responsible for decoding videos with smtube?
I think that smtube calls mplayer in the background to play the videos am I wrong?
The version of mplayer I am using is what Os4depot has and its the altivec version.

There is a new mplayer in amistore with a price TBA so I cannot purchase that I am afraid .
When it will be ready we are going to see if its up to the task on my old machine.

There is also another video player which its name I cannot remember right now which is available for purchasing but it is also unable to play 720p videos with out frame skipping and I do not know if its able to reproduce u tube videos .

The solution to my problem exists and its called X5000 but with my current bad economic situation and the economic crisis here in Greece it is just a dream for me ....

Also thank you for your answer .

Just started SMTube, there are the options to display YT videos as 480p FLV or 480p webm (in Settings/General tab)

By default, SMTube uses MPlayer. The settings are stored in ENVARC:SMTube.ini.

Could you copy/paste yours in this thread, maybe that you missed a MPLAYER_OPTIONS to make your videos smoother, for example :

" MPLAYER_OPTIONS -vo comp -ao sdl -cache 8192 -cache-min 20"

@zzd10h

Thanks for the reply , I am not near my peg but I am going to try your suggestions tomorrow.

I can play 480 p flv videos with smtube but I am getting a lot of artifacts in the picture so not an enjoyable experience ...

Can you provide me with settings for mplayer to adress those artifacts ?

I have to go now and I cannot post for some hours , but first thing tomorrow I will try to mess with mplayer's settings :)

PS. Ztools rocks !!!

@50mm

First, look at your ENVARC:SMTube.ini and add the MPLAYER_OPTIONS that I wrote above. It should be faster otherwise post the contents here.

"PS. Ztools rocks !!!"
Thank you

@zzd10h

I am at my peg now I copied the exact line of parameters as the first line in the ini file with no luck.
Any other suggestion?

Here is the contents of the ini file

APPDIR:MPlayer

0/400/640/400
APPDIR:ffplay

**** Examples ****

Optimisations from K-L (compatible with MUI-MPlayer Overlay and SDL-MPlayer)
MPLAYER_OPTIONS = -cache 8192 -cache-min 20 -autoq 100 -autosync 30

Optimisations from K-L (compatible with MUI-MPlayer NON-Overlay)
MPLAYER_OPTIONS = -vo cgx_wpa -cache-min 20 -autoq 100 -autosync 30

ok, you have the MPLAYER_OPTIONS. The "" are not displayed on this forum, there are brackets aroud MPLAYER_OPTIONS, right ?

What version is APPDIR:MPlayer ? Altivec one ?

@zzd10h

No there wasnt "" in the parameters line .
I runned some tests here . I first incerted "" to the mplayer's parameters line which made no difference at all ... with or withought brackets.
I then scitched the general and player's defaults to 480 P FLV but this resulted in a small palyback window in low resolution which doesn't have any arifacts but is very small .
In the past the 480p FLV window gave me a bigger window in playback but with strange big artifacts in the picture . I have to say this behaviur is with the added parameters and wihout and I made several reboots just to be sure.
Also ther is a new message window displayed now when I open smtube that says " Please isert volume proc: and gives me the option to cancel or assign it . I think it refers to error 380 but I am not sure.

The player is the altivec livfor it one that you linked.

I hope we are going to solve this and I am going to be able to play 480p FLV files or I have to swich back to 360 P mp4 files . Also when I am switcing the playback to webm files I see that the video is cached but with no display at all .
There seems that my machine only likes mp4 format but at 720m p I am getting slow motion video.

@50mm

Right, i just tested 480p FLV with MPlayer and with Emotion, it's very dirty. Maybe that YT changed recently...

PM sent with my SMTube config and MPlayer_SDL_Altivec from MickJT where WEBM works well.

And maybe that you could try 720p too.

for "proc:" problem, it's due to latest FE update.
See here for a fix

@zzd10h

Problem solved . I am hapily reporting that WEBM 480 P is playing remarkably well .
The overall stability of SmTube is phenomenal now , I am watching long videos that in the past were giving me Guru Meditation.

The 720 P mode is not playing well but for that is responsible my machine I imagine.

I am very happy , the whole utube experience is now reality.

A BIG THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are the best !!!!!!!

PS. Now AEON please give us a current and stable Odyssey and we are done.
