One of the main reasons for "freezes" on teron (a1 xe) boards is that stupid MAI chip that Hyperion lied to everyone about. The legnths the management goes with their propganda and lies is worse than us govt.
My old friend Lou Vidal prez of queens amiga user group had a nice a1xe he bought as an early bird. Luckily he had me to help with linux and other software installs and Kurt grach for hardware fixes and mods (mr hardware)

Very expensive indeed but was the fastest Amiga ever. Collectionable.
Well there is the follow up Sam boards which avoid having Amiga in name. And then there is the X1000 and now X5000. Forget the "not a real Amiga" arguments, we can accuse them of not being a real AmigaOne. The X1000 didn't have UBoot. Okay the Sams had UBoot and the X5000 has some updated variation of it. But it's just not the same.

And don't forget the VIA chip with which VIA didn't send all the docs for. Did it need those resistors? It needed those resistors not? The mystery remains.
Well some people know how to program it. So OS4 has Radeon acceleration. As it should for "real" Amiga like blitted graphics. Or it would be as lame as a CPU 3d game. But somehow on Linux, it misses out, as the kernel or graphic driver doesn't lock out all DMA operations which can cause an instant freeze. So it's nice to use Linux with Radeon acceleration on top of DRM and DRI. But you are lucky to get five minutes out of it before a lock up. And that GLX gears demo will kill it instantly and leave a bad taste in your mouth as you think you just fried the graphic card the way it locks up on screen.

Yes mine was a nearly bird as well. I mean early bird special. Perhaps they meant that like the young in the nest. Acting like a sucker when the worm comes dangling down. LOL.

To the A1XE owners it will run Mac osx suprisingly well with MOL. Try to find bootable cds made by the community or compile your own kernel mods.
I've run it on mine. OSX 10.3 is best for speed maybe but OSX 10.4 is the best it can run. Once you sort out the networking it is usable but just for most OSX apps. Forget games. As I found out most games need OpenGL and the hardware doesn't support it. Well the hardware and MoL don't.
I've still got PegXMac running. On Knoppix as it was. I updated it years ago to a 2.6.18 kernel I think it was. Hardly use it now. Still some what interested but I have real PPC Macs that are slow now. I'd still like to do my own A1 Mac installer. That installs easily and works out of the box. That is it would boot directly into Mol with minium fuss unles Esc was pressed at boot to configure or something. And it would be able to detect drives and partitions without needing to edit a text file. Well one can dream.
