What on earth is going on here ?

Hi

I am bewildered somewhat with what I discovered today lurking inside an Amiga 500. It is either a work of Amiga art or a mess. I cannot fathom myself. The switch to the arrangement doesn't appear to do anything.

If you have any ideas at all maybe you could share them with me so I can update the webpage.

Many thanks

OK so the RAM card cables should be on a switch to disable it, instead they go to the Gary as they should but the disable switch is used for something else. Weird but here's how this was setup on another's machine:

Amibay link

I would say the switch is wired to manually switch in or out the audio filter, perhaps he guy did some live work with the machine - try playing some music with the switch on and off, see i it makes any difference.

The glue I can only put down to him being a musician and he had issues with the PLCC chips loosening during transit. Why he then splattered glue everywhere is anyone's guess (is it glue? perhaps he loved Amigas even more than you Scuzz lol).

The coloured in Amiga logo would add weight to him using the Amiga for music - those Arty types do things like that ;)

Nice many pictures.

Interesting but no clue.

The fast mem does usually have an on off switch that has never to be switched when power on. You all know this.

Used to have an A500 with 8 MB Fast. It needed to have a socket under the chip in the MB.

Joystick&mouse should be removable even if on. Well bought a switcher for that if a friend happens to come by for a Deluxe Galaga. Extra Disk Drive was never to remove and in my opinion all with screws.

Good it works. Different stuff inside. Any programs with it to get a glue?

Maybe a sticker: " Handle with care" from all the wires.

Usually just removed all the A500 batteries and A1200 Tower professionals soldered it away from the 060 and PIV. Some wires.

Care in the battery removal. Hope some makes sense in the Tivoli World.

I've seen that done with a rainbow. Nice. It looks more arty than boring black.

Nice photo tour of an Amiga. This looks like one of those episodes of Star Trek where the Borg boarded Enterprise and started reconfiguring the ship. At least it still boots.

@scuzz

Some kind of Slow Fast Ram expansion. 1 Meg Trap Door memory add on? This would explain the Gary Daughter board. Not really sure.

I found one in the collection that is like it and also I have found a site on the web that shows a gallery of very similar. Seems to be part of the actual RAM card. Trouble is that this isn't controlled by the switch which is linked to the Audio Filter. Just a big mess really.. though the computer does work. Odd.

Here's mine
