@kas1e

My X5000 is sitting there mostly as a dust collector. I use the X1000 as it is much more stable in comparison. (I'm sure the beta tester are enjoying their X5000 systems much more as the have fixes available).

I think if something is not coming out soon, all AmigaNG stuff will fade away.

To be frank, I have the feeling, the ones in control do not care much more. In fact if they want to (hahaha!) relaunch the system, the community is not needed at all.
How many are left? And most are just whining and sobbing around between the bickering.

As a side note, what the apollo team is doing is remarkable. I wonder how the Amiga curse will apply to them. Apparently I has not failed once..

Well. At least this always-too-long agony will eventually end, bringing back the Amiga future to the only place it should have been from 1994: to its community.

@Amigo1

I cannot speak for other parties. Rest assured we are doing weekly work and updates in the AmigaDeveloper.com team. The Enhancer Software user base is growing steadily and this has permitted an investment in new software technologies and building upon what we have already.

Exactly.

Even worse is, that those in charge mistake betatesters for end-users.

You do have much more insight in what is being developed, what is in alpha/beta state and what "may" be close to release.

That is fine, but not for me and all the other "normal" users out there.
AmigaKit can repeat that they develop new stuff and fixed old stuff ad nauseum, as long as they don't deliver it's bull-talk.

Don't get me wrong, betatesting is a much needed profession, but they tend to forget that no one outside this NDA sealed building is getting "any" information on what is going on...unless someone leaks it.

Also, they are starting to "skip" over critical questions or stuff they *now* the can't deliver for more years to come...they can do that if they wish, but they'll lose more (potentional) customers that way than with their already questionable company "philosophy".

Not quite sure what you are referring to. If you are referring to the Enhancer Software, so far it is four major releases and some minor subsequent updates available from Updater tool. There is more to come soon.

@amigakit

How about developing a USB-Ethernet driver (E.g. USB 2.0 RTL8152B) while X5000/Tabor Gigabit Ethernet driver is being developed ? Currently supported USB1.1 ethernet device is hard to find.

I'm afraid that many non-beta tester are losing their patince / motivation about A1222 :(

Also what about the AHI driver ? Any chance that HDMI Audio can be funded by A-Eon ?

@SinanG

Good ideas about ethernet, which I had considered also.

Regarding A1222: there are various factors out of the hands of A-EON. It is important to understand the boundaries on what software A-EON can work on and the projects which our developers do not have development access. Everything within the Enhancer Software is fully developed by our team and because A-EON owns the code-base we can decide the future development path and produce regular updates for our end-users.

HDMI AHI driver for Radeon driver is also something internally discussed for some time now. We identified it as an important addition to the driver. We have a large list of high priority features to add to the Radeon driver that are being worked down and completed one by one. Couple with the ongoing march of modern Radeon cards in the wider computing world, we are pleased to have just completed the Radeon Polaris support which has been critical to the development future road map.

So, at least for me, that's no excuse.

Are you sure? According to Wikipedia, Apple bought P.A. Semi in 2008, while the X1000 went on sale in 2012.

@Skateman

That cheapass Realtek chip would have been a lot cheaper in the end.

Nope, of course not, i wasn't there, i wasn't one of the devs.

Just saying, if it was more or less decided to *not* create a LAN on board driver chip, then just say it.
Don't keep your customers waiting for years not answering questions and simply let them figure it out by themselves that a product won't surface...i.e. by developing a LAN on board driver for the *followup* model.

Bah...

@bennymee

It is being shipped with that cheapass Realtek NIC

The chosen hardware is just very complex, and not very common.

Well, you're either going to laugh or you're going to cry...

...hold on folks...

...but...

...the latest update to the Enhancer includes an ethernet driver for the A1222.

That's right. The machine that *hasn't* been released has a network driver.

@daveyw

And when we've reached a point where one machine Will finally ship with full support people Will find an excuse to complain.

Yes, and? You realize that there are dozens of A1222 boards out there running beta systems? Surely it's a good thing that crucial components - like the network driver - are available and fully tested when the board finally goes on sale?

What makes me laugh (or cry, depending on mood) is not comments like yours but the fact that A-EON had to develop the network driver themselves because Hyperion again were unable to deliver things they had promised.

LOL only Amiga makes you buy extra software to make the hardware work. It should be included in the price of the A1222 motherboard. What a joke but well done to who ever has written the driver..

@Trixie

I guess it's save to say that there won't be coming anything from Hyperion anymore.

The staff is tangled up in their lawsuits.

R.i.P. AmigaOS4.2

@Trixie

it seems there are different views between Hyperion and A-eon regarding what is contracted and what not. Also noone really feels responsible and both sides are just pointing at the other. Who is right, nobody can judge from outside. I assume not one side to blame but unprofessional behavior from both sides. But that is just my view from the comments I read. At least it seems now that there is a kind of stalemate now, both waiting on the other, expecially regarding Tabor

if you refer to 4.2 with SMP and 64bit I assume yes it is dead. At least that is how I understand recent comments
