| Those rights are cursed. One who reach it irremediably fall deep.
We should make a kickstarter campaign to execute exorcism on Amiga proprietary. All other options are pancakes.

Exclusive rights or just 'They too have the rights' ?
AFAIK they have them allready, but I don't know the limits of their licence. |

Not ”license”, Cloanto has full ownership of the Commodore AmigaOS copyrights.
When Amiga Inc was going to release a Classic Amiga Games kind of product for the Blackberry platform, they actually had to get a license for it from Cloanto.
Again: Amiga Inc had to license AmigaOS from Cloanto. Not the other way around. |

I don’t think they have full rights otherwise I think they would of open sourced the os 1 to 3, which is kinda what I meant and of course os4 rights. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Cloanto has _distribution_ rights for AmigaOS 1 to 3.x for the 68k platform.
Hyperion has rights to use the OS 3.1 sources for the purpose of developing OS4 for the PowerPC platform. They claim to have rights to much more than that, but court documents show that this is not very likely. For example they currently claim _exclusive_ rights to further develop OS3 on 68k, which means stepping on the toes of Cloanto, who have developed pieces and parts for OS3 on their own for quite a long time, with their OS3.X. Why Hyperion claim exclusive rights to develop on OS3 is really beyond me, all it accomplishes is pissing people off. Last edited by kolla on 01-Apr-2018 at 09:52 PM. No, they are the owners of it. No-one else own AmigaOS. If anyone else would want to release any kind of product based on AmigaOS (or components thereof) they would need to obtain a distribution right. From Cloanto!

There is (was?) an agreement between Amiga Inc and Hyperion to use the 3.1 as foundation for 4.0.
Since then, Hyperion was legally determined bankrupt by court, and the company failed to file any mandatory financial reports whatsoever after that for three years(!!!), putting the company in a frozen state where it was forbidden to conduct any kind of business- or legal activities.
Remains to be seen if a trial would deem that ”agreement” alive today.
But maybe they could negotiate a new agreement with Cloanto, the formal owners of Amiga?
