130 PageStream files converted for $

I have 130+ PageStream .ps3 files that I would like to have the data from.

I haven't sorted (since I cannot see them!) out exactly which ones I only need the text from (I'd guess about 100). Iff or gif images of the rest would be sufficient.

Anybody want to "bid" on doing that for me?

I only have an X1000 with the latest OS and I recall trying to do anything with my very old PageStream and it wouldn't even begin to start (as I recall). At the moment I cannot find a the disk I last bought it on .. I don't recall the last media I had in on anyway ... blah blah blah.

I'm in no hurry, but *one* file sent me on the "find .ps" search.

Pagestream 5 works just fine on OS4.
I think you can still get it from Deron at; grasshopperllc.com

Last time I checked it was buggy and never finished for OS4. I just tried PS5 on my older 4.1 system and it stalled loading filters. Amiga version can't be downloaded on site anymore. File may still be there but I don't know the exact URL. IIRC PS4 did work to some extent.

There is a Linux PPC version, but it's so old, it might be as useful as the OS4 version.

Maybe try Linux, OSX or Windows versions.

No it doesn't. Pagestream 4 was the last really operable version on Amiga. I can still run PgS4 on OS4.1 FE1. Believe me, I've tried and tried with PgS5. When it even opens at all, it will typically run for 5-10 minutes before requiring a hard reset of the machine. Too bad, too. The abiility to save a page as jpeg or png from Windoze PgS 5 is nice for putting things up as Facebook notices.

@ggw

By .ps3 I assume you mean the files were created with Pagestream 3? Or are they some kind of Postscript file?

Please do so!

IIRC if you bought PGS5 - because it is unfinished - then you granted to use the latest stable 4.1.5.6.
That version is almost perfect on OS4. That should do the job what you want.

@Paul

I don't know why these things happen to me. I swear it was unrelated, but I was cleaning out boxes, and here is THE recent from Software Hut dated 06/10/98:

PAGESTREAM V3.3 AMIGA $159.00

So, I have to say, .ps3 is indeed for that version.

My offer to pay money for any form of conversion still stands. I'll make the files available by whichever media/email/download from my website .. whatever.

I have zero need for any form of page layout anything these days, so buying something for myself to do the conversion is a disssssssstant possibility.

@Lazi

See my reply to Paul. I'd rather pay for a conversion than buy software, do the work, and never use the software again.

In the future it looks like the open source Scribus will open PageStream files. But for now it's in development.
