Amigans,

I need some help trying to find historical data on Commodore's market share in regards to the Amiga product line from the years 1985 to 1993. I have found one site with some data, but I need more...

I've seen the first graph on that site before and it's almost frightening - at around 1990, the Amiga and most ofher platforms just appear as some sort of multicoloured scum floating above the PC. I'm sure it cannot have been that bad here in Europe though - I knew more people with Amigas/Ataris than PCs. There's such a lack of diversity in the computer market nowadays - cannot be good

BTW in a month or so I'll be launching a site where Amigans can register their machines (a bit like the Linux Counter) - hope the statistics about the userbase aren't too depressing. Need to learn a bit more PHP to finish it off though

It would be interesting to find out what people actually had in the *home* though - as I guess those figures include PCs in the workplace.

And i think that the sales on the one side includes workspaces so i wouldnt really recognize these sales

Though I have found basic computer shipment data covering platforms (PC, Mac, Amiga, etc...) I have had a difficult time finding similar data showing shipments by OEM. I'm trying to break down the PC numbers by manufacturer and I have not had any luck. I went to both Gartner and IDC to scour their sites, but nothing so far.

Anyone here with some research knowledge for what I'm looking for?

One explanation might be that only PCs were used for business. The home computer market REALLY wasn't that huge. I knew a LOT more people with NO computer than WITH one

Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.
