Software News   Software News : RapaGUI 1.2 released
posted by softwarefailure on 22-Sep-2017 21:03:09 (1332 reads)
Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, are proud to announce the immediate availability of RapaGUI 1.2, the ultimate cross-platform GUI toolkit for Hollywood. This version adds support for PPC Macintosh systems (requires Mac OS 10.5, considered by many to be the best Mac OS) and contains various bugfixes and a few new features. RapaGUI 1.2 is now available for free download from the official Hollywood portal.

well done. impressive!
Not to whinge, but im a bit of a crossplatformer, and most people still using ppc osx consider 10.4.11 to be the best. Why? because it has an inbuilt emulator called classic, sorta like petunia that allows execution of classic 68k and ppc macos apps very cool, 10.5 doesnt have it, so many users stick to 10.4.11
Hope this helps!

That's true.
On more reason is, that second hand Mac Mini mostly only include OS 10.4. And if your main reason for buying is using it as a MOS machine, you won't upgrade to 10.5 ; Apple still demands money for this.

But if I understood Andreas correctly, the effort for support for OS 10.4 would be similar to support a completely new platform.

Hollywood itself runs on fine on 10.4 but I'm afraid RapaGUI uses too many features from 10.5 that it would be quite a pain to backport this to 10.4.
