Be good to know what 'updated odyssey' means.

@djrikki

Updated Odyssey is allready specified in the release note of 3.10 in the first place.

Wow!

I had to write you support message. Congratulations to MOS guys, system looks really fantastic, well designed and cool... I think I could use it one day.

Btw - is there something like demo I could play with in free time, that works on PC as emulation, well - something like AmiKit for PC? :) I have SAM 460ex but I did’t have opportunity to turn it on in past 2 years... I will have to set boot from SSD but hardly find some free time...

I haven't heard that anyone would have succeeded to run it under any kind of emulation, but MorphOS can be run freely in a "demo mode" on any compatible hardware. If your SAM 460ex happens to have a compatible graphics card, you can test MorphOS on it even without buying it.

Hope that the big work in last 2 years (and a half) has been in making all MorphOS code portable (so that in the future it can migrate on any platforms) and realizing a X64 version (still to be seen in public) as in my humble opinion giving user 192 megabytes of extra RAM memory, allow usage of .SVG vector icons, and adding some extra desktop themes unfortunately seems an just an infimous and ridiculous upgrade.

At this moment only thing I desire from MorphOS is an usable OWB from Fab, and I really hope but really I pray it has been solved annoying RAM eating bug in Javascript.

All I heard from people who installed improved version of OWB 1.24 as Dr.MorbiusFP, is that most visible improvement in OWB is on Preferite Sites Managing Page that has been reduced from full screen to a strange 3 lines only window...
Various bugs OWB has, are still present, as for example if you open more tabs and one of those failes loading a site, or can't find it, or got stuck during the operation, then OWB hangs also all functioning tabs, and you need to stop or close the one that was frozen, with the hope close button will work.

Pros in new MorphOS:

Now it stores data files in GMT Date/Time format as in other operating systems (good job)

Cons in new MorphOS:

It still has ancient Fileystem that can't manage files bigger than 2 Gigabytes (or was it 4GB? I do not remember).
Frankly in XXI century this is not acceptable.

Again in a discussion I had with DrMorbiousFP, I heard that Leif Salomonsson author of ICEFS is member of MorphOS team since some time ago from now.
Why don't they improved and used Mr. Salomonsson ICE Filesystem as the new default standard MorphOS Filesystem for modern needs of data storage and anyday computing experience?

Questions on new MorphOS:

Does someone know if USB Poseidon has been debugged and improved so it can now handle flawlessly USB devices with multiple capabilities such as modern Multifunction Printers (printer + scanner + card reader) without problems? (i.e. reckognize 2 functions out of 3, always missing the third)...

Are you kidding?! This is the biggest upgrade ever. MorphOS 3.10 is probably the single most massive update on any Amiga flavor ever, including the Commodore ones. I spent half an hour just reading the release notes! And in your eyes it is “ridiculous”?!

That’s the entire list of “pro’s” you could find?

It is clearly not the only new feature but this is actually a far bigger accomplishment than the average end user could possibly imagine. Since MorphOS has had a timezone selector for years, there is not much of a visual change at first glance. But it greatly improves convenience, which most of us take for granted regardless of how many technical hurdles had to be overcome in order for this to be achieved.

For example, getting a proper time to be displayed in Odyssey previously required manual tinkering during phases of daylight saving time. This is no longer the case. Everything just "magically" works now.

ASiegel It is useful also for copying files from and to other Operating Systems.
